I found your ironic version of a lion's role in his family amusing but the truth is far more fascinating...

...the lioness 's role is not servile as one might initially think.. Mother Nature knows how to divide roles accordingly. There is a reason for everything.

There are two kinds of hunts .. Stalking which involves the females ...they are lighter built and hence quicker on their feet once the pursuit is engaged.
The females , more than one , are hidden waiting to target a weak or younger member of the herd.

The other hunt is the one the males take part in .

The victim is always a larger animal like a hippo , giraffe ..game far too big for females to attack.

Here is where muscles counts. And the hunt is direct : eye to eye.

While the females keep to the flanks , the male lion will face directly the large prey .. If the herd comes to its aid, it might survive otherwise the lion's attack together with the females ' help will be a victory.

One must keep in mind that it's mainly the lion that protects his family ( called pride).

If he is tired he risks to lose a fight if another younger male tries to take his place .. If this happens the winner will also kill all the cubs of the defeated lion.

So the lion does less hunting because he must always be ready to defend his pride.

I always marvel how everything in nature has a purpose or an explanation..

The artwork is comical, as well as the last two verses of this very educational poem (LOL). That's pretty much how it works in my house :) My husband is very 'old school' that way.

Thank you for sharing; I truly enjoyed this :)

Hello Rhonnie,
You have it mostly right.
The female does indeed, do the hunting, but not by herself.
They hunt in packs of females, as a unit, something that's evolved in many
including the orcas at sea, the wolves in northern area, lions
and many others.
The male is much larger and stronger, and has little to fear from the female.
Great picture
Nicely done.

Nice work. I especially like the twist at the end. At first I thought this was really just a paragraph along the lines of flash fiction. However, upon re-reading, it does work well as a poem.
