This is a sad song about leaving a house you lived in forever. They hope the new owners will love it as much as they. It would hurt to much to return to see the changes in the house and the memorized and loved rooms.

Congrats on placing in the contest and keep writing

Joan

I'm so glad I discovered your writing here. What a heartfelt, beautiful poem. Sad but at the same time the narrator is hopeful and full of acceptance.

I enjoyed your poem very much. It reminded me so much of my feelings when my husband and I sold our land and country home of 31 years to move closer to my 90 yr old mother.

Hello Diane, what a very lovely poem so full of poignant feelings and memories of a life lived. You did a fine job of depicting their emotions on selling there place to others. Your author's notes added depth to this piece and made a difference. Well done.

This loop poem takes my breath away - and I am not usually a fan of the style and often find its tilting to read. Here, the words, flow beautifully and the repetition serves to emphasize the point of each thought so clearly.

There is specificity in the words - yet there is a universal understanding of the grief of any moment of departure when leaving your own treasures in the hands of a new caretaker.

Well done.

No, we can never go back, even if we wanted to. It's never the same if we do. This is a lovely 'loop' poem, sad, but well written. I liked your author's notes too, that made me stop and think how many moments of joy and happiness I've had in my life. I hadn't looked at it like that. A brilliant contest entry, my friend. Good luck! :) Sandra xx

This well-written, moving poem vividly conveys the theme of leaving behind
the things we love when it's our time to go. We pray those who receive will love and care for what they inherit.

I love this! The poem flows well and the picture is made for the poem, or the poem is made for the picture-just perfect.
You have met the challenge of a Loop poem beautifully.

Clearly, you have written something wonderful here. You have perfectly captured the emotions of having to let go after all the hard work and the memories created. I love the Thomas Wolfe quote too... very appropriate. This is the first loop poem that has not annoyed me with its repetitions. I like it, clearly...

Hi Mrs. KT, This feels a little bitter-sweet... I'm so glad that my parents aren't ever going to have to go through this phase. We won't ever make them leave home. It must be hard for people to say goodbye to a home they have loved for their entire lives, I don't know how they do it really. We can only hope for the best I expect. :)
