Yes, George was likely misaligned for this particular battle action on that lonely ridge. But you gave him credit for this historic event. Should we blame the scouts for not checking a bit further down the valley below or Custer for being too blind about his superior military ability? Patton had flaws too. Your story works better with George. Both dressed flamboyantly.

rue ... Sioux (someone totally unfamiliar with the English language might have trouble pronouncing this name and getting your rhyme!)

Different sources paint Custer as a fool-hardy reckless commander who dug his own grave, but no one ever called him timid...and the upper millstone, Crazy Horse, and the lower millstone, Sitting Bull, did some serious grinding by the Little Big Horn...excellent poem for the prompt...

Ha ha ha Custer easier to rhyme...Patton ....sat in ...satin yep doesn't reallysuit a General of his ilk...neither does silk..
I enjoyed it but I did think he rued the day he fought against Crazy horse

This was a good write. I like the subject matter. I remember studying and being fascinated with Custer when I was younger. I liked the flow of this one and it told a good story. Good job.

This flows very well, is easy to read, and has a solid style structure that meets the expectations of a good poem with all the criteria met. I like the name, "Custer," it works very well with your rhyming. The picture is has a nice effect too. Well written and has a good meter. The rhythm is solid and it sounds out quite nicely. George Armstrong Custer made his name during the Civil War.
After that, though, his record is spotty at best.
He lost his entire command at Greasy Grass
because he strove for glory and ignored input from his scouts.
In fact, it was Custer's Last Blunder.
