You have a great haiku Jmf4119 about the flower lavender in (I count 16 syllables) of how the scent of lavender is a great thepary.

Thank you Gert for your thoughtful and encouraging review. I'm so pleased to hear from you and extra pleased that you enjoyed it.

In traditional haiku the syllable count is 17 syllables or less.
Unlike western or modern haiku that requires a strict 5/7/5 syllable count.

This is such a cute play on words! I really enjoyed it. It made me smile as I got the "punch line."The color, font and picture are soothing as lavender is. Great cohesive piece of art!

A cute pun haiku! I was wondering why the lavender had to be growing and blooming under "Italian skies" and I see it was a buildup for the "a Roma" last line!

This is lovely. I like your words, your artwork and the general presentation.
Why Roma? Do gypsies use it as a natural remedy?
Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.

Thank you Maria for your thoughtful and encouraging review. I'm so pleased to hear from you and extra pleased that you enjoyed it.

Actually, lavender grows in many places. It's most famous in France but it also grows here in the USA. I just wanted to use the line
"A Roma therapy" and so it had to reference Italy. :))))

I understood Roma as in gypsy people, not Rome.
We also have lavender here in Spain.

Oooo, very nice work on this haiku. I enjoyed your use of the sense of smell and wit at the end to really bring this whole piece together. Nicely done! Good luck in the contest.

Take care,

JM, not usual for me to give sixes to Haiku, but the form is a form, and how well these little words connect. The image is the icing on the cake, and does not at all overpower the write, which a lot of authors make the mistake in doing.

Roma and Italian link well in giving the mood a direction, and the overall imagery breezes through the mind, not force through like some do.
Bravo.
Always good to read from my dear friend. Good to see you still here. A rare, but well deserved six for this Haiku.
My best wishes.

Thank you RG for your encouraging and generous sixth star review. I always appreciate hearing from you and I'm so pleased that you enjoyed this one.
I'm honored to get one of your sixes. I don't usually give sixes to short poems either so I am especially pleased to get one of yours.
This was fun to write and remember those lavender fields.

"a Roma therapy" is fun, funny, and quite clever as an ending to a haiku. Everyone knows the sweet smell of lavender, especially when it blooms during springtime. You used the haiku style well for this piece. You mention Italian skies. Have you been there? Is it as lovely as it sounds? Such a romantic country, with delicious food, and splendid gardens and architecture. I love the presentation style you chose, with the lavender background, along with the beautiful image of lavenders in bloom. Thank you for sharing this sensory stimulus of the smell of lavender.
Take care, Jesse

I have been to Italy. It is a beautiful and romantic country. It really is like they say about the Olive Garden restaurant, "When your there, your like family." :))))

    Hi Janet
Yes, I did enjoy your haiku. I had a feeling you had been to Italy. It sounds wonderful. The family feeling one gets from there must be extra special. We need more of that here, in the U. S. A. Have a great week.
