Yep Earl, we are all not that perfect. But your trash ain't bad. Your story of hoarding is perfectly matched with your selected illustration.

Rhymes are spot on throughout.

I am a saver too, but some of the items you mentioned, I don't have. I do wish I still had my 1950s baseball cards or even my bottle cap collection. Hahah.

Your bulldozer idea is a possibility, but my spouse would prefer I just trash the paper I keep for my genealogical research. Most of which may already be stored online! LOL

Thanks for your 'hysterically horrible hoarding history' verse!

But wouldn't it be great if you actually could take it with you. do what the Egyptians did and get buried with all of the stuff. That's what I'm going to do.

This is really funny, I can relate. I still have all my national geographic magazines, I can't part with them..lol. it's so easy to collect but much harder to part with things you love. Best of luck in the contest.

This poem, I'm Trying to Take It with Me, really lives up to the title. Maybe we can take it with us. I suppose we can always hope.

I like your poem. That is why I gave it five stars.
Your rhyming pattern is tight, a little too tight for me.
Other than that it is a great whimsical poem.

Hello Earl,
You've written an excellent humorous poem for the contest.
It makes me feel good about my "merger" collection of stuff
and bad that I didn't keep some of those early comic books,
45's and baseball cards.
Original rhymes with hoarders/borders, cans/afghans,
and escapes/videotapes.

Sounds like my house! I always think "I'd regret trashing this" then forget about it for years as it collects dust. This poem is fun and catchy. Thanks for sharing.

I can relate to your poem
All though I don't consider myself a hoarder ...
I think of myself as a collector or' a clutter
Yet every word you wrote sound just like.

Excellent rhyme and story. Like you, I have things scattered everywhere. I also have sock problems
I have problems losing one then trying to match the one I have to another. Doesn't work too well. When you throw things away, you never know when you will need them again.

I cannot relate in anyway whatsoever. I do not keep anything past its time. I did not come from that generation that saved everything. No, I didn't. If I keep saying this, it will come true, right?
