I think everyone gets a little down when it rains to long. Lack of sun chnages your mood. Light, sun and warmth perks you up and takes away the blues. I like the artwork.
Congrats on placing third in the contest. Keep writing.

This is funny! I think it would brighten up the windows/displays at your local florist's shop in the cactus section--or anywhere, for that matter. Nice 'p' alliteration with 'pavement' and 'puddles' located so close to it. The poor cactus will have to wait more often than not in England for that sun, it seems.

Thank you! Am sure all of us would love to consider the life of the cactus!
Give us sunshine. Give us light. Minimals of waters needed to prolong. Seems as if African Violets might have been a better choice. Yet, the soil. The fertilizer. All in the plant world have their druthers...

Lol. That's cute. The weather in England is much like here with nonstop rain for nine months so cactus plants probably wouldn't do well here either. Congratulations on placing!

I'm dazzled by all the surprise endings in the 80-word stories, and yours is humorous and perfectly written. I would never have thought you were a cactus. I'm glad you were mentioned among the winners. Well done. (I've used up all my sixes.)

Hi Maria Jose. For a moment I thought you were describing where I live. The whole Easter was drowned in water, and that was good, but not for the poor visitors and tourists coming here to spend their holidays. We've suddenly got waterfalls running we haven't seen for ten years or more. I loved your wee story. All the best. Ulla:)))

I was really relating to this one, raining day after day, feeling it would never end. Great twist at the end Maria, brought a chuckle, the POV of a cactus in England. A fun read,
cheers,
valda

I have had a soft spot for England for many years, and I love many of the shows produced there. I'm not sure I could handle the rain there any better than the cactus (cute twist at the end!)
At any rate, this is a great story and I hope you do well in the contest.

I love England, and even though I prefer American shows, I think the BBC is great.
    Thanks for reading.

A wonderful little 80-word story to tell us about the poor little cactus that is waterlogged in England. Another interesting short write that I enjoyed. Image is very nice, too. Marilyn

You truly put a smile on my face just what I need on this crazy day
We only had a few showers for a few days and would believe many people began to complain
As the saying goes, you keep please all the people all the time.
Thank you for sharing. Hope it stop raining soon
