Great poem. You have described a storm with vivid imagery and made it very engaging. We don't get many bad storms here, mostly just heavy rain and wind. Best of luck in the contest.

Thank you so much, Bichon, for sharing my poem and your kind praise. I live near what's called Tornado Alley. In the Spring there are constant tornado and thunderstorm warnings for fast-moving storms. Flash-flooding is also commonplace.

Dear poet, Great description about a storm and how someone is caught in it. I could just hear the "sheets of rain" and you had a good description of the "gray-bellied clouds," how suddenly this storm came upon the lake and just as suddenly the lake was "serene" again. Good luck in the contest

I like this work. It reads like an ode or a ballad, and refreshes the memory of storms we may have suddenly been caught up in. The amagery is great, the meter gives an impression of the lashing and thrashing of the sheets of water. The tetrametric quatrains work well, and the abcb rhyming is great. Well done, blessings, Roy

Dear Mystery Poet,

Wow. What a powerful storm! You really had me there. I could see, feel, hear and almost taste the rain and wind. Lovely writing - engaging all the senses. Not a lot of writers are able to do that - Kudos, and much applause!!

Favorite bits:
-->The bobbing white caps farther out
crest faster as they roll toward me.
--> Soon huge drops smack my naked flesh
and pock my footprints in the sand.
-->Then deaf'ning thunder rips to shore.
It hurts my ears, my eyelids ache
-->and soon the lake's serene again.
Seagulls careen in cloudless skies

All in all, one of the best storm poems I think I've ever read. *smile* I will be anxious to discover the writer. Please be sure to let me know?

Thanks so much for this delightful treat. Have a marvelous weekend and I wish you lotsa luck in the voting! (Though I doubt very much you'll need it!)

You had a different idea about storm, a storm was about to raise, you took a place to watch and enjoy the storm, you noticed some changes in the sea around; well said, well done. Write to inspire, change -- DR ALCREATOR

A very well-written poem about the storm and the fierce force it can have on a human body when caught unprepared without shelter we can get really hurt. As soon as the storm is over the peaceful scene returns.
