I love the title and the lead in line above it. Yes, I agree. It happens for a reason. And that is to build strong character in our being. The image you use is very suitable for the image you create in our imagination. "to sharpen our will" is a great way to put it and so true in our lives. Without the "rough spots" we wouldn't reach the successes we were meant to achieve. This is well done and very thoughtful and wise.
Take care, Jesse

What a wonderful surprise this morning, Jesse!! ;) You just made the room brighter in here, sir -- thank you!! :) ;) I'm so very glad you 'got' this one.... you know, I had another tell me that I could have just as well put 'wit' there instead of will.... guess so, but it would not have had the 'determination' bent I wanted to convey! :) ;) Thanx for stopping by, sir -- your time and words are always so appreciated! :) Take care! :) Yvette

    Hi Yvette
It seems so obvious to me. How could anyone not 'get' what you were saying? Ah well, it takes all kinds of people to make the world go around, right? I really loved your message. It's something I need to remind myself of from time to time. It's nice to be appreciated! Take care, Jesse

I seldom read these tiny poems, but I'm glad I stopped to look at yours. WELL SAID! Good analogy. Like sandpaper makes wood shine and nail files shape to perfection, we need some roughness to progress! :)

Like you, Phyllis, I used to think these were a pain (lol!) until I realized they were my perfect DSR 'Diversionary Stress Reliever' -- because they make me think long and hard about making a statement or thought...so long and hard that it takes my mind off all the other stressors in my life!! This one was a good walkaway from the 'end of the year' parent emails that are as inevitable as sunrise! ;) ;) Thanx for your wonderful comments and for your wonderful support! :) :) Yvette

Good luck in the poetry contest, Yvette. It is short but definitely so true. I liked the title and the short descriptive line because they both gave value to the poem. The picture was entertaining as well.

Yes they do, I just wanted you to know that you have been someone that has made those rough spots for me a little easier to cope with especially here in Fan Story and your help and kindness has really been lovely. I know we have connected "For A Reason". And although I haven't been using all the nicknames MRW, CQ and BT it's only because my pain level was super high when I was writing. We will definitively need to check in on Monday have a glorious Memorial Day weekend and I hope to be home and as normal as expected soon. Cheers, Fonda

Lady F, I do not need any initials from you at all -- just jibberish with some smiley faces would be just fine.... as they say, it's all about heart not the paint job!! :) ;) LOL! I think I just made that up... :) Anyway, thank you for trying to keep up with my posts -- it means the world to me that you are... but i want you to rest if the docs say rest and we'll connect more when it's too damn hot out here in the South to even think about going outside! :) ;) You take good care of you and i'll be in touch! :) ;) Yvette

Yes MRW, CQ and beautiful teacher I am listening to the doctors. The surgery went well, however there is an infection that I will be on a picc-line of IV antibiotics for the next 6 weeks at a minimum. It is a central line and I?m waiting patiently for it to be installed today. Then I go home and get a home health aide or have to come back to the hospital weekly depending on how things go. I am hoping they go well and I have been having Wi-Fi issues or I may have been able to knock out even more reviews. I truly appreciate you and funny, while everyone at home is sweltering I am in a 68 degree isolation room being waited on hand and foot - so it isn?t awful to be here as you would have thought - also I have angels dancing in my room for nurses!!! The most glorious women ever that I have ever met! Really beautiful souls! It was very lucky of me to come at this time because everyone is wanting to be here. Thanks again. And I have the lovely voice option if I could just get it to understand my use of the English Language LOL!!! Cheers, Fonda

Hello, My Good Lady of the South! Rough roads ahead? I hope not!!! Didn't you just finish with the finals and stuff? Must have all senior classes because my son has his this week... then he's done forever!!! Hooray!!! (until college next year... he hasn't got a clue! LOL) Poor kid! Good thing he's got a Mommy who made a career out of college, time management, and learning how to highlight the right stuff! ;) "Where there's a Will... There's an A" baby... I wish I still had those tapes... I bet they're still out there! (gotta write that down... lol)
In any case, when I read your poem, my head went straight to the weather. I hope that it's not too treacherous where you are. ... where are you anyway? Where should I keep an eye on??? Now I'm going to worry!! :) I hope your weather is going to be as good as ours this weekend... rain at night, sunny in the daytime! Hooray plants!!! :) :) :)

Better write it down like immediately because if you're anything like me, that memory just does not have the 'reminder' capacity it used to -- how the hell did I ever keep up with all their schedules years ago? Ugh! :) Now I really ought to by stock in sticky notes... and if I did, I would make them produce a line that had little 'subject boxes' you could check as to the nature of the note [grocery, house, husband, child _________ (please specify), etc] because I'll go back and look at some of them and wonder what in the world I even meant by the note!! :) ;) Yeah, the thing we got right now is 'Extreme Heat' ... we used to call it 'Early Summer' when I was growing up but you know everything is a crisis these days... LOL! ;) Been in the mid 90's with REALLY high (85%+) humidity so the cats and I are restricted to the porch past, say, 10:30 or so...helps that I'm a 'cracker dawn' riser! ;) ;)
You take care up there and thanx for stopping in on this one -- pretty sure my will's as sharp as it gets if this were true! ;) ;) Yvette

Hi Yvette. Wonderful 2-4-2 poem and so true. When you go through hard times it's a challenge to explore where you are capable of.. You will be surprised what you can. I had many hard times and I became pretty good
in solving problems and the more I appreciate the good times... Fia

Yes -- I do believe, Fia, that many of us could actually write a book to this effect....if there were ever time to do so, yeah? :) LOL! :) Thanx so much for your review on this one, ma'am -- so very appreciated, as always! ;) Yvette

A very well-written 2-4-2 poem and the reason why we have some rough times in our lives are there to make us stronger and shaping our will to become a better person.

You are so right. Sometimes, we find we had a strength we didn't know about. I know I have. Besides, without the rough spots, how would we know what to enjoy when the good ones come.

Well good, I should be as sharp as my best knife, as rough spots abound. I am looking to the one who overcomes and lifts me over them. A fine 2-4-2 poem for the contest with a spiritual thread strung throughout.
Always my best to you and yours,
Sal xo
