Loved the tightly-knitted bunch in your Wimpy Woolies Inverted Refrain poem and following them right through to the 'fleeces spun to fuzzy thread - sounds a bit like my spinning. Enjoyed reading your light-hearted, woolly sheep,
cheers,
valda

Very interesting subject. The reader really gets a sense of place and of the sheep. It sounds like a ballad, with the man telling about giving his wife two baby lambs and pinking shears. Shearing the sheep is beneficial for the useful wool and to the sheep as their coats would be unmanageable without it. Great work with your inverted refrain. Lovely picture, too. judi

Living as I do on a sheep farm I was most taken with the idea of shearing a flock (rather than a herd) with pinking shears. I think the resultand thread might look like this:

Dear Author,
You wrote an excellent poem using Potlatch structure, which is new to me. I enjoyed your story about the growing herd from a pair of an eve and ram.
Mt best,
Deborah

Interesting form and you did a great job with it. I like that you followed his having lunch with the woolies having lunch on the grass. Clever.

Lambs are the cuuutest things! My aunt had some on her farm for a while. They gamboled about just as you'd expect them to, and they really DID follow the kids everywhere. Baa-aaa! :)

Thank you. I've always wanted a sheep and a cow. I don't know why, I just do.

Nicely written poem describing sheep and their lives in this entry for the inverted refrain for the potlatch. Perfect picture choice.

Keep writing

Joan

A very well-written inverted refrain about the herd of sheep stand in waiting for the shearing season and everyone who can have their own shearing scissors to get the work done quickly.

I believe you have written an excellent poem for the potlatch challenge...I have not approached this one yet, it looks--complicated. I guess sheep are the animal best at both feeding and clothing humans world wide...Arby's Greek gyro is pretty good...

I've never cared for sheep's meat in any form. My sons do, though. Thanks for reviewing. Looking forward to yours.

Hi Yvonne. This is an interesting poetry form. There are so many of them. I'm intrigued by this one which you've penned well. So far my fave is the Retourne which I'm enjoying. Marilyn

You did a super job, Yvonne, with your inverted refrain. To begin, the picture selection is beautiful. Good job, too, with the rules of this complex style.

I like how your couplet in each verse gives more meaning and the words/lines are not just a repeat of the earlier ones. Those lines describe more than the obvious each time. For example, one use of the line has the observer eating lunch. When that line appears again, the sheep are having lunch.

Good job with your rhymes, the smooth flow of words, the great color scheme, and the storyline. All work together to create an enjoyable, well-written poem.

Thanks for sharing. Jan
