You are talented and wise Rachelle. Beautifully done.
Wish I had been armed with that amulet of yours years ago.
So happy that you have a loving husband (your perfect match.)
This wasn't what I was expecting when I checked in to see what Rachelle posted this week....goes to show the diversity in your writing.
Always enjoyable on my Sundays.
Thanks for your creations,
Best Wishes, Tedd T

Bingo! Six for you. You nailed it on every count and this piece should be mailed out to every couple even contemplating engagement. In perfect order, flows well, tactful, funny (love full disclosure at the salon bit!) At least get this out to your local newpapers! Super Job! :) Applause here.
Can you hear it?

Excellent and very insightful writing about a healthy relationship. It is sad that most of us don't get it right the first time, but it appears that you have now, which is very important. Thanks for sharing this!

Yes! So something good came of the first time, at least, right: Wisdom and Experience!!

Thanks for the understanding review, Bill. xo

I can identify with all of this, and understand why you felt compelled to write it. Money can't, and never will, buy love or happiness, and the trappings of wealth will not soothe a soul that yearns for something they don't have. I particularly like your assessment - that's the killer. Great stuff.

Wonderful Rachelle. You have imbued this with so many pearls of wisdom without a trace of preaching. Those who can say their marriage/relationship falls withing your pointers are indeed blessed. Mind you happy ever after still requires effort on both sides

My now that's a big breakdown of a good (or not so good) marriage. I'm glad you included the part about "is this relationship one you're choose for your child." I can say a resounding yes after 60 years of marriage - neither of us are perfect - or even anywhere near that title - but...by the grace of God we've managed and are thankful to be together. I would wish my husband's steady, faithful love for any of our children.
Good story.

Some more words of wisdom, Rachelle. I got a kick out of the way you described your manicurist. If she has so much money, then why is she working, I wonder. I'm thinking it's more like a social outing for her and a good way to keep up with gossip. Hugs, Lou

Bingo, Lou! You hit the nail [haha] right on the head! She is the QUEEN of gossip! And talking ad infinitum. (I stopped going. That journal entry is from a couple years back. I finally just could not take it any more!)

Hi Rachelle... again... ;) Okay, how about this as an answer to your last question? I don't want my son to have ANY of the relationships I have had for himself!!! I expect that he likely will though. He'll likely be hurt... fall in love and be heartbroken. What I DO want for him is that when he finds his ONE, that it's THE ONE, not one that he'll end it with eventually. I want it to be the Fairy Tale. Not like me... I never got to have that brass ring. The white picket fence, husband, kids... be the mom... you know. June Cleaver perfect. :) That's what I wanted for me... it's what I want for him. I know it won't really be that way, but I'll take someone that loves him enough to work through things, not lie to him, and not cheat on him. Those are my big three... and makes him happy too of course! Big 4! :)

It's what we all want for our children. I think the fifties sitcoms did a lot of damage; they made us believe that people's lives are actually LIKE that - that that's what we should strive for. But no one's life IS like that, and if we strive for it, we will always feel disappointed and inadequate.

Thank for such a well-thought-out review, Susan. I like it very much. xo

Okay... I'll settle for him having it like my mom and dad... still together at 88 and 91. :)

Hi Rachelle, you've got a six from me becausce it's very well written, and on top of it all you have me chuckle. I agree with all the points up to a point. I've been married twice and I've had another long term relationship in between. So more than 40 years of my life has been spent in a relationship. My first marriage produced a daughter from whom I now have tree wonderful granddaughters. Where we differ is that the answers to your questions are not that simple. Every relationship has it's positives. At least in my case. I know that my daughter has found her mate. I thought I had as well in all my relationships, but there's so many variables. Does that make sense? All best. Ulla:)))

I totally agree, Ulla. Whenever we have children, we can't regret our past. There ARE positives even in negative relationships. Very good point. Thanks for this wonderful review. xo

Very wise words. This should be posted in every high school and college.
It's too bad that hindsight is so good for so many. It's not easy to make a major change in one's life. I know - I did it.
