I love this poem. It really rings true with me.
I am the youngest of six kids. Just as you wrote, we all have our quirks but together we are perfect. Thank you for sharing!

Rachelle, congratulations on being commended for your frank admission of the laughable foibles of you and your clan (although I suspect you may have been unduly harsh on the pitiable Charles, who likely would take umbrage at such a faithless obloquy)!

Hopefully helpful suggestion: Reconsider the single entendre, "(k)."

Your devoted admirer,
Don

Thanks, Don. I guess I was too harsh about poor Charles, my faithful servant. I shouldn't be such an ingrate. I'll give him a reward today to assuage my guilt.

I appreciate your suggestion about (k). I vacillated then figured, "Oh, what the heck! Dumb jokes are part of MY foibles!!"

"Peas In A Pod", is an extremely well-written and heart-warming piece. This talented poet's work was a pleasure to both read and review. She is right. Family always come first. To me, this is a six, but I only have fives left. I look forward to seeing your next post.

I really liked this entry and I thought for sure it was a winner - and you of course won! Great work Rachelle! I did mine from a hospital bed and didn't let anyone know that I was entering. I also didn't promote mine because I felt like I wanted to see what people would think without all the politics. I see that you have a good 1.02 on yours and I applaud you for writing something relatable for sure! Congratulations on your 1st place win for this and for writing something very true to life about family! Cheers, Fonda

Gosh, Fonda, I don't know quite what to make of this. I appreciate the compliment about the relatability, but at the same time, I'm wondering if I should feel guilty for having promoted it? I'm very sorry to read that you've been in the hospital. I hope that you are home soon and back to health. xo

Oh no don?t feel guilty one iota!!! I was happy you did
And so did others! Rachelle, I am exhausted and that could have been said more tactfully - I was loving yours before not knowing if you had promoted it!! I was saying in a good way that you are doing all the right things!!! Sorry if it sounded back-handed! I really loved it! You deserve the win!!! Always! And promote please if you have the means to it you should!!! I was just saying in a way that it?s great that you got to promote it!!! Cause a lot of times people are only reading the $1 stuff ahead of the contest or I should say leaving a review!!! The only reason I know this is because I had several votes but only two people reviewed and I don?t think either of those two even voted in the contest. Also I was happy to see a lot of new names entered!!! So please don?t feel guilty. Feel awesome because you are!!! Cheers, Fonda

Dear Mystery Poet,

Yep, warts and all. That's what makes 'em so cool. And the even cooler thing is that they love ME with all my own warts and issues. (Yes, it's true.) Thanks and good luck!

Love for one's imperfect family is the real kind, for sure. Only a mother could love a son the world rejects, as only a sister can share the feelings of her siblings. A family is a unit, and all have enough in common to override conflicts, if you're lucky. Splitting from your family is like divorce--it hurts everyone. So learn to live with your genetic companions, despite their flaws. You grew from the same roots, after all. :)

whimsical way to describe the foibles we find in each other and to show that, no matter what foibles they have, claiming your family makes each member stronger. good luck

What a perfect title and picture to fit the poem, and what a perfect easy flowing (and that is not easy with unmetered lines), with creative rhymes, all in a Quatrain poem, to express a family in such cute ways.
Pleasing color choices, too.

I love the end ... it should do well in the contest.
Thanks a zillion for sharing! ~ Richard : )

We hang on to those special family memories that comfort us and this is why we are hurt to deeply when a member of the family is lost, your words are warm, love Dolly x

That is absolutely true, Dolly. The quirks that annoyed us when they lived are the ones most precious when they pass. Thank you for the wise and beautiful review.

Excellent rhyme all the way through your poem. No matter how your family acts, they are still your family. That is the message I gleaned from your family contest entry. Very good entry.
