I'm copying this and entering it in a contest on F-wait a minute, you already did. I see there is a serious side to you...I'm jealous. :) Okay, seriously, I really, honestly think you did a great job with this.

You must stop now. My face hurts from too much laughing too close together.
Thank you for your absurd review. xo

A nice contest entry about jealousy and its related color green and the destruction that this brings to a life of man or women. Good luck and thanks for sharing. Kind regards Colin

Wow, I have to catch my breath after that read. The pace reflects the barrage of anger and ferocity that can manifest from jealousy, while employing a unique (to me, anyway) rhyme scheme that stacks the intensity on top of itself in a cumulative manner throughout. Excellent write on the topic! Makes one wonder just why green represents jealousy instead of "the fieriest of red-orange" or the "miasmic blue" of even hotter flames.

It's funny; a LOT of reviewers of this piece have questioned why green represents jealousy. I'll have to resort to Google, I guess. (sighhh)
Anyway, I can't tell you how I appreciate your mentioning the stacking of cumulative intensity with the rhyme scheme. It was supposed to be like the metaphoric fueling of the fire, and you noticed! Thank you for that!
I absolutely love this review and appreciate all the time and thought you took in writing it.

Fifty shades indeed! This is a great poem that captures the progression of this cancerous emotion that ultimately will destroy relationships, as well as impact our health. I love the reference to colors other than green - the colors behind the scene. Should do well in the contest. Great illustration, too.

Awesome! This poem is so good that I almost hate you. If you were to look up the word poetry, this poem could be used as a fitting example. The way you expressed your thought through the use of colors was an inspired decision. Jealousy is in fact an act of anger and maybe even a little bit of hate, and the green is almost never associated with hate. Red and orange are colors of anger and violent action and yes blue is a color more associated with love and romance. This is a wonderfully well written poem. Congratulations.

Well, I certainly don't hate YOU, Nomi338, after such a fabulous, encouraging review as this! Thanks for this helpful, specific feedback. I very much appreciate all the time and thought that went into these words you bestowed. xo

Nor do I hate you. Am I a little bit jealous? Yes, more than a little, but I am also inspired to become an even better writer myself.

Okay. That just melted me. Thank you for that ultimate compliment this morning.

I remember many, many years ago when my wife had an affair with her boss. I really wanted to kill somebody. At first, I didn't believe other people's suspicions, I just believed everytime she said there was nothing going on. Finally, she told me the truth. Our relationship was never the same. I relate.

Yes, an infidelity changes everything. My husband and I have always agreed that it is our metaphoric Line in the Sand. It will end our marriage. I'm really sorry you had to go through that, Victor.

I didn't understand the concept of for better or worse, I definitely understand the worse part.
-
Uh-oh! I'm sorry to read that.

The title made me smile as it reminded me of the famous novel Fifty Shades of Grey.
I like the way you describe jealousy and the rhyme in the second part of your poem.
Good luck in the contest.

Then that title did its job well!! Thanks for your feedback here, Maria, and your well-wishes for the contest.
Comment from Sandra Stoner-Mitchell
What a wonderful contest entry, you have perfectly described jealousy and its results. It happens to too many people, instead of focusing their envy on people who have something, or do something, that they wish they had, they should get out there and live their own lives. Well done and good luck in the contest. :) Sandra xx

In my opinion, a superb, descriptive write, beautifully even and smooth in rhyming rhythm and articulate in pensive rendering and presentation - fully compliant with the prompt. Best of luck in the contest with this observational poem...

That is a litany of really tough ugly words and emotions. Lots of strong images like "red-orange flames", "scalded", "mutilation", and "miasmic blue." You made jealousy look very unattractive. Since it is and has ruined lives, I believe you got the job done. Very good.
