I felt strongly one's heart being poured out into this Terza Rima. It gives me a sense of impending death due to perhaps a terminal illness. It tells of the loss of hope, depression, loneliness and pain, seemingly without end. And, maybe accepting death for the light on the other side.

The couplet can lead me into two different directions; one of hope for recovery; the other, transformation on the other side, with God's reassurance the future is not to be feared.

'I hear his gentle voice now loud and clear' ... I could be way off base, but many times in life, as one is approaching death, I've heard it said that they see and hear more clearly and louder.

I truly wish you the very best in this contest. Such a wonderful entry!

Wow, I am aching and feeling every ounce of this poem in its elocution. Your rhyme and particular style for the contest is so advanced and beyond my level of knowledge. I just know inside this poem reached out and grabbed me in a way that it rugged deeply on my heart. It expanded my mind. It made tears fall from my eyes. It made the lump in my throat thicker. You have moved me deeply with this amazing entry. I wish you luck in the contest. Cheers, Fonda

I think you've done wonderfully well to follow so many rules yet create a poem that really speaks to the reader. There is some evocative imagery here too. Good luck in the contest.

A very pretty poem. It is lonely and depressing when you lose a loved one. Not only have they left permanently, but sometimes there is a guilty feeling because they had to die but you're still alive. Such as in the instance where a family had the gene for a fatal disease. Each child had a 50% of having it or not having it. Out of 3 children two died from the disease and the remaining child did not get the gene from his parent and that meant that he would not contract the disease ever! This child who lived felt guilty for the rest of his life.

A very well-written Terza Rima about the love of our life that dies before wecan have the best of our years together and we are only left by the memories that keep us going on.

I enjoyed your Terza Rima which is beautifully rhymed and well metered, the sentiments here of sadness and loss and then the dispelling of darkness with the view of butterflies, a fine write and I wish you luck with the contest, this form is not easy and you mastered it here, love Dolly x

A lovely poem about overcoming grief. The iambic meter feels a little forced in the third stanza, but it works. I admire how well you wielded the form.

This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
