Dear Mystery Author,
First of all, I ADORE that image!!! Secondly, your words took me right THERE. What fun. I remember those days so vividly. When I was young enough to enjoy swinging myself (still do from time to time!) and then swinging my own kids. It never gets old.
Favorite lines:
Up, up above the trees she rose
till pointed toes caressed the clouds.
Loved it. Good luck!

Your poem brings several things to mind. I think back to the mid 50s when we used to watch a television version of Superman. We all wanted to fly like Superman. I guess I was just a little smarter then a few other kids who had jumped off their garage and broken arms. Second thought that comes to mind is, we used to give each other "underdogs". Where we backed up the kid on the swing as far back as you could and pushed them all the way until you got under them completely. Years later I gave "underdogs" to my own sons and then later after that to my Grand children. Most kids would like to fly, it's just that they grow up and give it up. Such is life. Best wishes. Oh by the way, I enjoyed your poem very much.

I am delighted you enjoyed I WANT TO FLY so much, victor. Yes, an "underdog" is what Petey gives his sister to really get her going. Many thanks for reviewing and your interesting comments.

When I read a poem that is sincere and uplifting, it is pretty hard not to go a little overboard with a review. Of course, you are most welcome.

This poem speaks how a girl wished and wanted to fly in the sky simply by swinging and she did it with her full joy and excitement; well said, well done. Write-Inspire-Change --DR ALCREATOR

That's a really nice story about children playing on the playground with things like jungle Jim's that are no longer allowed to be there. I remember the big swing sets you described and of course the boys wanted to get level with the support bar. She defied gravity and got there. I have no patience. As soon as I got as high as I could stand I tried to jump out. That never really worked out well. Good poem.

Hello Mystery Poet,
This is a fun poem which reminds me of my own swinging days many centuries ago. I used to love touching me toes to the sky and putting my head back to enjoy the moment. Now that I'm old, I get dizzy on swings so stay away from them lol!
Best wishes in the contest.
Joy xx
