This is so lovely. Thanks for entering the contest prompt I initiated. I was hoping some nostalgic pieces might be written (dancing does not seem so romantic these days) and yours is right up there as a moving moment (literally!) of tender connection, continuing through the years.
(I have 2 left feet and have to dance alone or there would be damage done!)

Hi Boogienights, That's so sweet! It reminds me of the earlier days that my boyfriend and I were going out... I'd say, "we never go out and do anything..." He would tell me I didn't want to go anywhere and then he'd go on to say that he'd done all his "going out" dancing and that kind of stuff when he was married, back when he was young. He'd say the two of them would tear up the dance floor... I know I'm never going to tear up any dance floor but it'd be nice to go out once or twice... I'm not holding my breath though. ;)

Some unsolicited advice. Tell him you're going out, don't ask! Find something he likes to do as well, so he can't make excuses. If he still won't go, you go anyway with friends. It doesn't mean you don't love him..it just means you love yourself as well. Life is too short to waste. There's my soapbox speech for today..lol. Thanks for reading my poem.
