A Nicely Cooked up poem with a helping of heartfelt seasoning. The only ingredient that was overlooked is to review the final recipe before releasing for the taste test. I've seen a few poem recipes getting scrambled with the computer uploading here. Very Fun to Read and as for your Poetic Restraint I rate it a A plus

i absolutely loved this, especially that eighth stanza! I realize we need rules, but when you concentrate on rhyme, meter, and syllables too closely, you tend to lose the life of your work! This was a great recipe for a winner!

Thank you, you're very kind. I've never been one to concentrate on meter and syllable count, l just write from the heart. :)

Same here! But there are some sticklers among the judges!

What a wonderful submission for the prompt. Your poem is written charmingly, just like a recipe one would find in their mother's recipe box. I love your list of ingredients, and that you make the harder-to-find ones, like meter, optional. Your poem shows a lovely sense of humor, and I admire your ability to incorporate varying rhyme schemes without its being disruptive (a skill I've never mastered).

If you manage to include all of that, you've written an epic. But absolutely, great poetry includes all of that. Something that tugs at our hearts and our tongues and makes us pay attention. Well done and good luck.

A very well-written poetry recipe. Poems consist of words and we are the cheffs to make the soup tasty and acceptable to the ones who like to drink our every word that completes the soup.
