How awful for you and your family. It's a sad situation when being struck with an illness results in a succession of losses. What a shame that your employer and landlord weren't a little more forgiving.

That said, this is a well told story and I hope the ripple effect goes for the better very soon.

Wishing you much luck with the Contest Committee. :)

A very sad read, but you cannot put all the blame on yourself if any, when we are sick, we are sick- your boss and your landlord did not seem to help this, a great read and entry for this contest, the last line of your story, one part feels a bit wrong, "if I ever wake up for the frightening dream" should this be ( from the frightening dream)? ****kahpot

Thank you for your review and rating. Thank you for pointing out the error and I fixed it. It is hard not to put the blame on myself, because we were doing just fine until my illness in October. There is no sympathy anymore when it comes to business and money. Thank you for reading.

I'm so sorry to hear all that. Being sick is hard enough, I can't imagine what's wrong with your employer or your landlord to let you go through all that. I wish you a speedy recovery and a quick return to normal life.

If I were in your shoes, I would be blaming me too. HOWEVER, it was not your fault you needed surgeries. AND, I believe you will see the good that will come out of this bad. Waiting for that good is awfully hard, though.
I remember several times in life being down and out. Once, alone, renting an old house from a drunkard, no electricity, eating nothing but 25 cent cans of pork 'n beans. Pretty much sucked.
You did an awesome job in writing this story. It hurt to read it because, through your words, I could feel the struggles of you and yours. Many times, it takes only one setback to alter our lives.
Hugs & blessings,
Very best wishes in the contest!

You bring out a lot of emotion with your well crafted short story. I hope that you are doing better these days. The situation can possibly have helped your stress level.
