Lol! You're so funny! I can guess what the "bucked off" might be in another context. And yes, life's ride is painful at times. I liked your final line of the "horse be with you!" I think that horse, I'd rather not have with me.

Life is a hard horse to keep on the course without getting bucked off a few times. Changing horses might be a good idea sometimes.

    but not "in mid stream?"
That's a line from the movie, "My Fellow Americans." It's pretty funny if you get a chance to see it.

Definitely not 'in mid stream'. That sounds like the horse is peeing!
    Thanks for the movie recommendation.

You have made excellent use of all your syllables in this thought-provoking comment on life when it throws you off your course.
Creative use of "horse" as a metaphor!

What a clever title and animated, parallel picture! I admired your "painful ride" metaphor and your creative wordplay with "horse" replacing "force". Big cheers and best wishes in the 15-Syllable Poem contest- Joan

I laughed out loud when I saw the photo and read the poem. The photo fits the poem perfectly. I love your use of like-sounding words to get the point across. The last line is the kicker. "May the horse be with you!" is a wonderful play on a phrase from the past. This lighthearted piece expresses in jest, how many of us feel, at the present time. Better to laugh at it than to cry, right? This is a wonderful use of 15 syllables. Thank you for the morning chuckle.
Take care, Jesse

This one made me giggle. You sustain the metaphor with brilliant skill. Even without the great artwork the poem captures the imagination with effortless ease.

Love the subtle suggested wordplay in "horse", and earlier in "bucked off". The latter was more of a stretch because it's followed by "with" but the reader gets the message.

May the force continue to be with you!

Thanks for reviewing, Julia. The last line had to have 'with' so it could reference the Star Wars catch phrase.
reply by juliaSjames on 21-Jul-2019
Oh yes. I was referring to the first with.
reply by the author on 21-Jul-2019
Initially I thought of using 'on', but then we say 'effed off with something' so I figured 'with' had to be used.
reply by juliaSjames on 21-Jul-2019
Yes, I figured. I was thinking "pissed off", same difference!

This is great - the photo is tremendous with your poem. But the poem made me laugh. Very creative. Several meaning couched in those few words. Good entry for that contest.

Horse humor and Star Wars humor? I am in heaven! And that is a good place to be on a Sunday. Good choice of photo/illustration. I could not find anything to fix in this short short. Very nice 15 syllable poem entry.

Excellent poem.
So few words-but- makes
the reader search their mind
for when they were last bucked!
Love the word play and picture.

LOL! You do love your word play and rightfully so since you do it so well. This meets the contest requirements splendidly with a 15 syllable verse. The content is witty making for a delightful read. Good luck in the judging and thank you very much for sharing it.

I'm glad this entertained you! The bucking horse, Life, can run away with us at times.

This short poem is both amusing and witty. Great pairing of photo and poem. Rodeo riders will appreciate the allusion in lines 1-2 and Star Wars enthusiasts will adore line three. Great way to start my day with a chuckle. Rod

Thanks Rod. I found some action-packed photos featuring bucking broncos at rodeos, but as I flinch at the notion of horses getting 'tortured' like that i was pleased to find an eventing horse ride and the eviction of the rider under less stressful circumstances. Although the old nag, Life, can certainly turn into a bucking bronc sometimes for sure.
