I liked this poem a lot because of the references to cultural icons which were really on the wholesome side. Haven't read Beetle Bailey in twenty or thirty years, but I remember it. Am more familiar with TV and movie versions of Superman and Batman, but I still have a couple of Donald Duck books in the house somewhere. So this has wide appeal. I was not familiar with Sergeants Fury and Rock or Jonah Hex and had to look them up. Mickey Mouse, of course, ought to be on every American's most easily recognizable book/movie icons.

This is a great contest entry and should do well in the voting booth. When I was eight-years-old, I met a girl and fell instantly in love, We would read comic books together for hours. I can't remember what the books were about, but I can tell you what the girl was wearing each day.

This is a very worthy entry for the contest. Comic books are a special part of America's literary heritage...whether some people like it or not. I read many of them growing up and my favorites were always 'Silver' and anything else that had gorgeous horses in it. Best wishes!
