Good job, Jim. Excellent use of just 75 words. Is this in any way biographical? Retirement is wonderful, but the retiree will be looking for new things to occupy his hands and his mind in a very short time. experience speaking. Good luck in the contest. Great entry. Bob

There is more to retirement than any of us thought. Suddenly our children see us as the children. We have to struggle against being made redundant in giving our invaluable advice to them, even though we have lived and survived a tougher life than they will have too. But, there is also the up side. We can ignore their advice as they do ours! lol. And there are the grandchildren, I need them to get me through the new IT world! Enjoy your retirement, JLR, I spend a lot of time writing and walking. Doing what I want to do. Big hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

This would give you three more words to comment on your feelings.

I loved the visual of shredding the remaining business cards. That feels like a significant symbolic act. Separation anxiety notwithstanding, I appreciate that the retiree feels hopeful, not fearful. Makes me believe that this is not one of those folks who retires then dies 3 months later!

You are very wise in your younger years, I suggest that you will do very well until you arrive at a great retirement door.
