Well crafted poem highlights some of Boone's accomplishments. Their adventures are still legendary and indeed did help the United States grow. They were the real deal.

Rod,

I missed this in the contest voting - I've missed a lot of contests lately AND reviewing. So much time with gkids! But this was GREAT! Thank you! Hope you did well!

So much is owed to those gallant Frontiersmen. The soldiers of the forest.
They explored, created, developed and built America. How awesome they were. How courageous and brave! You have truly created a poem of tribute to their endless endeavours. Great poem!

If I ever write a novel about the Frontiersman, I am going to ask you to compose the book jacket. Many thanks for sharing my ode and your kind praise. Rod

What an honour that would be! That would be a book I would surely read.

Very nicely composed and rhymed. Daniel Boone was one of those frontiersmen who holds our imagination with their adventures. Best of luck in the contest with this entry. Marilyn

Hi Marilyn. I am delighted you like the ode and its rhymes. I have always liked this hero in literature and it was fun to write a short poem about him. Rod

This is a fantastic ode to the Men who paved the way for generations to come, just one question, I stumbled a bit with "fights with injuns" just me but thought fight the injuns, no matter it is an excellent read and very well written with great artwork, best wishes for your contest****kahpot

Hi kahpot. Many thanks for sharing my ode and your kind praise. Sorry you stumbled over that phrasing. Sometimes iambic rhythm will cause that to happen. Rod

I really enjoyed this poem. If I can't win the contest this poem should. The picture is great, your birthday flow is good, and it throws a spotlight on the true people who opened the west. Very nice job.

I like this. You used very good word choices that make this come alive. You describe the outdoorsman in great detail and down to the letter. His attributes and his garb are on full display in this well written work. I enjoyed reading this. Well done!

It was a bit of a tongue twister as I read it out loud, but it shows a history that many most likely do not know. Very educational.

Good luck in the contest

I really like the historic aspect of your well-written poem (although feeling sad for the dispossessed 'Injuns'. You write very descriptively of the skills of The Frontiersman. He may well have been a hero, but there were losers too.
I am not familiar with USA literature, so thanks for introducing me to James Fennimore Cooper. I googled him and found his background really interesting. this sentence stood out for me about him, as it has modern parallels: "Cooper feared that the banking and the orgy of speculation he witnessed were destructive of civic virtue and warned Americans that it was a "mistake to suppose commerce favorable to liberty" and that doing so would lead to a new "moneyed aristocracy." He was right!

Hi Lisa. I am delighted you enjoyed my short history lesson on the Frontiersman. You will enjoy Cooper if you don?t mind a lot of verbiage. His stories have much action and you will enjoy his hero.
Indeed, Cooper?s vision of ?moneyed aristocracy? was correct.
