I was there with you, although I got approved to be a substitute and chickened out when one of my friends got one of her retinas detached because she had gotten too old to bob and weave out of the way of an 8th grader's tantrum... even at that age, they still throw them. I salute you and the story was well told. I had panic over the cookies and felt silly right along with you and that is important in reading such a piece. Thanks for posting. Keep writing.

Thank you very much for honoring me with a six star rating. I have a lot more stories about subbing and teaching in juvenile placements. I appreciate you taking the time to read and review my work.

I like your story. It is so true in so many ways. I know because I am a high school teacher. I hate covering classes especially gym. Which I can't actually cover because of insurance so they sit in the auditorium. Great description. Good job l.

Good stories here. I am a retired teacher, so I understand all of this!

You have several mechanical errors:

In paragraph 2, you need a comma after University.
In paragraph 4, you need a period after excited.
In paragraph 6, you need a comma after teacher.
Kindergarten should be capitalized, I believe. It comes from German, and they capitalize all nouns.

Clean these (and the others) up, and you'll have a really good story.

This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.

You are right about substitute teaching, Mystery Author. Everyday is a new adventure. Seems you had many. You did a good job of describing several. I could picture all that you mentioned. Thanks for sharing and best wishes. Jan

Something that you could not get enough of allow you to write the most amusing I Remember writing prompt. I like how you remembered substitute teaching on all educational levels. I like you sharing the emotional roll a coaster in the kindergarten class as the substitute
teacher. Before then I liked how you escaped the modern shop class,
not in compliance with insurances rules. If you continue to teach do remember this is going to be an amazing teachers lunchroom highlight.

I don't envy you. I remember how we treated substitute teachers when I was in school in the 60's and 70's. I don't imagine it's any easier now. Best of luck to you.

What a great story. You will draw in all the readers who have ever been a teacher or have substitued. I think primary grade teachers or not given the credit due them. It is darn hard. I also was a 6-8th-grade teacher and ended up being a 1st grade teacher. What a disaster. It's a wonder anyone learned anything. I admire you for your courage to be a substitute teacher. I also substituted in high school. At first that was scary but I enjoyed studying with them in Shop. No tools allowed either. but we did get into so good discussions.
This is a well-told story.

Wow, I had no idea. I thought that shop class would be so much harder to teach than kindergarden. I had no idea that those children would be the more difficult task. Bless your Darling heart. I often thought that I would be a great kindergarden teacher. I really like this and enjoyed reading this well written work. Well done!

A very well-written non-fiction autobiography about being a substitute teacher in a kindergarten, not the easiest taskin and job. When I babysit my grandchildren, I am exhausted when they go home, I can't imagine having more than three to be fun.

Hello mystery writer. I can only imagine the horrors of being thrown into a kindergarten class as a sub. It would be like a piece of raw meat being thrown into the lion's cage. The meat would have lasted longer in the lion's cage than I would've lasted in a kindergarten class. It's a great story and very funny.
