You have mastered a beautiful and heart-stirring poem and story of the life of a man with a dream and love in his heart. It made me think of my own grandfather many years ago.

Comment from Daniel Massey
This told a great story. I feel there could have been a bit more rhyme, but not all poems have to What could be taken from this is a novel/short story telling why he looked so young. Maybe he has more to do with the heavenly kingdom than readers have been informed. I've given it six because it felt real. Before the latter is just an idea...God bless you.

Comment from Mary Vigasin
Well done in telling this story of a man as he enters a new country and raises his children. An now in his twilight years, he still celebrates life.
You bring your reader along with a very well written yarn. beautifully written with good rhythm.
Good luck in the contest.
Regards,
Mary

Well, I've got a little lump in my throat... Very nicely done: it's poignant, well written, and understated. The last paragraph is the clincher. Best of luck in the contest.

I really enjoyed your poem and I think it should do well in the contest.. The reader gets to know this man through wonderfully descriptive images.
It's a beautiful story of one man's life as he grows older.
I love it.
Good luck in the contest.

It's funny the older one gets, the more invisible and irrelevant one becomes, it's funny also, that appearance tends to reflect the world, not the other way around. It should revere age, but it does not. This is beautifully written my friend, the wisdom exuded, and the literary expertise delivered is marvellous, well done, blessings Roy

The author's words are engaging, interesting, clear and creative. I found
this poem to give a lovely description of growing old. The poem flows and
connect well. The last stanza says so much. I enjoyed the read of this poem. Have a great day!

These hard working farmers have spent their lives growing things and working the land and they leave a little bit of themselves in the earth they tended, a fine tribute to them here, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Yes, it's the simple and meaningful things that we need to remember to celebrate. He has lived a full and satisfying life, giving and receiving love, and working hard to provide for those he loves. I just felt the last stanza faded out a bit, being so much shorter. Would it be possible to have stanzas of equal length? (Sorry, I just prefer symmetry.) i enjoyed your reflections. Thank you.
