Those last words are gut wrenching and so true. So many young people fail to look at the impending reality of age because they are so far from it. We do not value the aging in our society. Your poem is important and deeply touching.

It is easy to visualize the Speaker, now old and under the care of a "controller." She does not deny she's mean and grouchy now because of ailments. I especially like stanza 6 where she describes her youthful self. The tone sobers at the end when she gives sage advice to the young. A very good entry in this contest that should do well. Rod
