You have made good use of all of your syllables to convey a theme about love, which is that precious, elusive thing we all want--that mixture
of pain and magic.

I wish I could say I found a message in your poem, or a clue to any magic it says unfolded. If there's time before the contest deadline, I suggest you work on adding some meat to the bones.

Hmm, I'm chewing on the use of the word "mystery." Is it love's mystery, that it should act in this strange way? And how does craving pain lead to magic? You definitely have my head spinning! Good luck with the contest.

This is a short poem in a 1-5-7 form, which I have never tried before, but here it seems Love gets defined in new ways which make the reader think about every single word. It's always more than chemistry, but it still remains a mystery. Once you experience the beginning of love, you can't help but crave it. But love also has a tendency to bring pain, with breakups, etc. Good love stories are definitely magical, and they definitely unfold! Nice job on a short one! Good luck in the contest.

A fascinating way to define Love as a mystery. And that the second line introduces "pain" shows us the risks involved in giving love. But the final line tells us that the magic is all worth it.
Best to you in the contest!

There is pain in love, that's for sure. Even if the two come together, there can be misunderstanding and sometimes one didn't vet the other well. But then there is the magic of true love
You point all these out in your nice poem

This poem is a very subtle one for me, which I found a bit difficult. But I especially liked the resonance, and the image was perfection. Thank you for sharing.

Good luck with your 1-5-7 contest entry. I stumbled on the second line, "mystery craved pain," love is a mystery, I guess pain is involved until the love is secured. Many types of love. Many magic stories too. Well done.

A very well-written 1-5-7 poem about love between lovers often cause them more pain than pleasure and yet they claim they love each other and will never part that is the mystery of love.

I will admit, love is a baffling mystery to me.
A craved pain? You may be right about that--and eloquently stated.
Magic? I don't buy that part. Love is work. Hard work.
Best of luck
