Hi Yvette! I'm sure this was a hard one for a lot of people to review, including me dear MRW! I know that your writing always, and I mean always, has the emotional component embedded! This one well just crushing in thought! So during this week of setting my Memory Coat aside, and trying to regain my footing in FS, I too was bombarded with the memories of 9/11. Over the last 3 months I have had quite the emotional turbulence and I recognize that we as writers need to always - no matter how uncomfortable a subject -write to give what we can. You are such a beautiful teacher and CQ and I do hope that more minded people like you will be offering information in the very skilled way that you do! I look forward to reading even the smallest of 5-7-5 poems. And this definitely deserves top honor from me! Hugs and love Fonda

The day always brings back chills and more for me -- the 5-7-5 just a peak into my thoughts. I tend to go all 'sciency' in my evaluation of any event like this.... and that's what really makes me 'tear up' even 18 years later. It was both heart- and gut-wrenching that day.
So glad to have you back if only for snippets here and there -- I really enjoy the uniqueness of your offerings but, more than that, I just love your perspective on so many different subjects: you have a heart bigger than your frame and that makes it just a bit more tender sometimes....and that's a good thing when it comes to being a writer!! ;) :)
You take good care of you out there, Lady Fonda, and I'll be here ready to catch whatever you'd like to toss out for interaction -- got some iced tea ready and waiting!! ;) :) Thanx for these lovely stars and WONDERFUL comments.... just remember: YOU ROCK!! ;) Yvette

Your short verse has a strong message.
The 9/11 tragedy will live on in our minds forever. Let's pray it never happens again, and never again will people have to determine how they will die like that.

Ciao mystery poet . I gave you your first ( of many I hope) vote.

There have been several entries in the last week concerning 9-11 victims ..

Even in this contest there are a couple ..

yours stood out from the crowd for me ..trying to come out of that inferno was not an option for many and they knew it ..

I remember watching the first reports on TV ....it looked all so unreal ... I saw a few people jumping .

Your words capture the terrible drama of those moments for these unfortunate people.

I really like the artwork you chose too.

I can't imagine what it must be like to contemplate such an act, because I love life so much and fear the end. But in these circumstances when you know death is inevitable, then I understand it, such a tragic write filling my heart with sorrow, love Dolly x

It's been a day of memories for me here in Australia. I remember September 11 all too well, and recall the horrified sounds people on the street made as yet another fell to their death. What an awful way to go, and as you say, what an unfathomable choice. Let's hope we never have to witness anything like this again in our lifetime. Or any lifetime. Surely this awful event was a big enough message...we can only hope. Well said!

This is an astounding posting commemorating those who fell to their death on 9/11. We can try to imagine the horror/terror/fear/pain involved, but I'm sure it would be but a shadow of the actual happening for those whose innocent lives were taken. I think this is an important work and I appreciate the comments you included at the bottom. Best wishes in the 5-7-5 contest!

Thank you for sharing your tribute to the horrific 9-11 anniversary. I appreciated your note of advice and title also. The bleak "Falling Angel" reinforces your words well. Best wishes in the 5-7-5 contest- Joan

That many jumped. Oh my stars - each one, as we saw the photograph, brought groans from us as well - and crying. It was so awful - but I totally understand why they had to do that. The horror.

Unfathomable

choice: to meet death on their terms...

fate's falling angels

We can never view those images without shuddering, and can only guess what they were thinking.

Also, you chose an impressive picture. It goes very well with this poem.

You have made excellent use of all of your syllables in this piece about that unspeakable tragedy. I am not capable of imagining the extent of the terror they all felt.
