I think that your poem explains what the essence of unconditional love is all about. I think that if people were committed to unconditional as much as some pets are, the world would be a kinder place.

What a sweet poem! It sweeps away all the puddles, the sharp little fangs, the yapping, and digging, the grizzling... to get to the centre of what dogs offer; companionship and unconditional love.

It follows the 5-7-5 rule very well. I love the picture you chose. The idea of a soft, newly born puppy being God's gift is hard to dispute. I enjoyed reading your poem. Good luck in the contest!

That's sweet. I'm hoping someday when I retire I can have a pup like that. Right now I have two very loving cats. They're fine for the day if I'm not home but I couldn't leave a pup. Good luck in the contest.

Wow! what a way to show the world a creation of God, Author. :) I hope whoever reads this 5-7-5 understands that all of us are God's creation. and like a pup, innocent in our arms so are we in the arms of our Creator. We were born without sin (pure as snow) unfortunately, growing up, we soil ourselves. This is a good entry for the 5-7-5 contest.

Comment from Hitcher
Yea they look SOoooo cute, and one would think butter wouldn't melt in their mouths BUT once they chew their way through your favorite slippers, destroy a few of your wife's feather-down cushions and poop and pea on your carpets and rugs... pure as the white driven snow starts to fade a bit, ha ha. Sorry I couldn't resist : )) excellent offering friend, good luck!

DOG spelled backward is GOD. I have several dogs and I cannot believe how they make me smile sometimes.
They were indeed a gift created by someone who wanted us to experience love.

How absolutely precious! And I'm not even a "dog person." However, even cats can bring comfort, or at least some of mine have, and I love seeing the "good shepherd" finding comfort with this pup. I would love to see this picture posted in animal shelters if it is not too politically incorrect!

The two images that most immediately come to mind when I think of unconditional love are God and dogs. Your 5-7-5 and accompanying illustration do a great job of capturing that.
