I'm so sorry you lost your furry little friend. They're members of the family, and it's heartbreaking when they leave us. I've had to say goodbye to more than one beloved pet in my life, and it's broken my heart each time.

Thanks so much for your review and comments. It seems we never get used to it. Love makes us vulnerable to hurt each time.

I wish I had a six to give this, I love it so much. Of course, I have to mention that my little black-and-white "Flop" (he ran to the door and rolled over when we came home; thus, the silly name). He was a baby, a stray found on the street by a friend and given to me. I had him twenty years and was devastated when I had to put him to sleep (renal failure). Anyway, back to the story you've detailed in this poetic tribute, it's well-written and poignant, and I hope you do well in the contest. And, I know how you're feeling about little Cubby.

I appreciate your comments very much. Flop sounds delightful. Animals develop such endearing habits. Being together for that long I can certainly understand your devastation when the time came to say goodbye. My puss got renal failure also, along with a heart murmur and thyroid trouble.

I forgot to mention that I like the title.

So sadly beautiful. You are such a master at expressing things. I wish I could give you a big hug, but you will have to take this virtual one. And a virtual 6 too.

Oh yes, there she is cleaning the table with the cat rolling technique. My kitty doesn't stop until every book, pen and paper is knocked onto the floor.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your rescue cat. Your poem is most heartfelt.

Best luck to you in the booth.

Gloria

It is a very effective technique, although not always appreciated. Thanks for your review and your comments. Much appreciated.

A sad tribute to your beloved Cubby. It is so obvious that you love your pet very much. The photograph and poem should be framed and placed in a place of honor.

I'm so sorry you've lost Cubby. Our pets really leave a void in our lives when they pass away. They provide companionship and unconditional love and who can put a price on that? Good luck in the contest.

Part of the reason I went away on that wilderness trip was for distraction, but now I am back and the house feels so empty.
Thanks for your review and good wishes.

I can believe that. After we had to have Hercules (sheep) put down, we'd still look for him in his paddock. He was a rescue too. Perhaps it is time to get another cat?

Too soon. It was only last Wednesday. Her grave hasn't settled yet. I also need to do some travelling that her absence has freed me up for.

Certainly travelling becomes much easier without pets to worry about.
