This senryu, To Dream Again, has the proper 5-7-5 framework and uses the feathery bird to emphasize that we can't always stay in the air, but we can always attempt to relaunch and fly again.

June,

Yummy! It's clear to see why this poem took the ribbon. I love the idea of picking up those broken dreams, bandaging them and setting them free to fly again. Lovely! Thanks and congrats!

This is a very interesting way to look at unfulfilled dreams. I've never thought of them like that. I guess dreams do take flight when they're fulfilled, and lame and broken when not. I like it! You've done a fine job with this clever and well thought out work. I enjoyed reading it! Well done!

A very nicely phrased senryu! I like how you personify the dreams and that you call the reader to heal those bird-like dreams to soar again. And sometimes, we need to change those dreams in the healing. Best wishes in the contest!

Hmmm.... in an abstract sense I can see that sharing emotion through language skill could demonstrate poetic ability; but how about the a-hole boyfriend/girlfriend who sends a nasty break-up text and breaks your heart?

So very true. I think that is what we aim for each time we write something. Hopefully it will resonate with others. If not we have to be content that it was meaningful to us personally. Nice job. Marilyn

Of course, he can also be a she! Since you use capitalization, I would recommend some punctuation mark after your second line and third line. IMHO it gives a greater snap to the meaning of your Senryu.

Your selected artwork is eye catching!

Hello mystery writer. That is a very simple, direct poem describing the reward the poet finds in his writing. Good luck in the contest. You complied with the terms of the senryu.

What a wonderful thought worth contemplating. I think even prose needs a certain rhythm to flow into the heart of another and have some impact there. Very thought provoking.
