Yes, it does remind me of Romeo and Juliet. But at least, they lived and hopefully, found another one to love. The story is well done in verse and yes, sometimes, love gets deterred by families. Best wishes in the contest!

I wonder how many love stories have bitten the dust because of some stupid feud two families began many decades before! Your poem is very well-written and moving, telling a heart-wrenching story.

What a gorgeously presented Romeo and Juliette-esque tale you've so skillfully composed and generously shared with us.

One that should fare very well, indeed, in the contest.
Thank you, and the best of luck! ~ Richard : )

Congratulations on this rather sorrowful, but well-written poem. It does remind me of Romeo and Juliet, however I prefer how in your piece the lovers don't die tragic deaths.

This is a Romeo and Juliet scenario where the family history gets in the way of true love. Wouldn't it be great if love was left alone to be enjoyed, and family rifts could become a thing of the past. Holding onto a grudge spoils so many things. Forgiveness can fix things, then happiness has a chance.

one summers' day.
one summer's day.
That kind of Montague and Capulet family thing could do it! Just one thing... I wondered why, if they didn't know their families were enemies, did they meet in secret? Did they have any other reason to hide their relationship?

This is a touching poem. In the start it reminded me of Romeo and Juliet, but luckily this couple did not end up dead. The picture is a welcome addition to complement the words.

Thanks Susan. When I read it back I thought it sounded a bit Romeo & Julietish.
