The author's words are descriptive, clear and creative. I really liked
the first line of this poem! It says it all. The poem flows and connects
well. The artwork is perfect and compliments this poem well.

Everyone has had some kind of coaching and training for something in life, whether, it be in sports, a job, etc. This was nicely written and motivating. One thing I've always done in life, is to keep my eye on the prize;) Best of luck and thanks for sharing!

We power through, power on, power up! In all we do, to keep our eye on the prize!

Hi there,
nothing comes for free and to be the best, you have to work for it. If life were so easy and you never had to fight for what you wanted then there would be no purpose in owning it.
I like the last two lines of the poem.
"Winning comes from preparing, bearing witness that to compete you must leave every ounce of the very best you bring on the field to the last second, of the last play, every game!"
Well done.

You did a great job, JLR, expressing your thoughts on being part of a competition. I like how you wrote 'last second, last play of every game.' If one isn't prepared to do that, then s/he shouldn't be competing. Games such as you describe are a team effort--as they say 'there is no I in team.' Thanks for sharing. Respectfully, Jan

Super writing, Jim. I am out of sixes already or you would surely get one for this writing:

Some well-thought out ideas about competition. You seem to be focused on athletic contests, but we non-athletes can be competitive too - especially in the FanStory $100 contests!
On the downside, I would have liked to see a little more poetic expression come into your free verse offering, a little more imagination in the way you express these ideas.
Still a fine poem.

I think you match the criteria for the contest perfectly. The image and the poem worked well together. You explained the need to compete very well. Though I sometimes feel like life is a competition just to stay well. Thank you for sharing this interesting piece. Good luck in the contest. I think you have a chance of winning.

In my opinion, a superb write, this poem defining the competition prompt perfectly and in full compliance. I find this writer's talent to narrate his works easily and clearly, very conducive to my customary enjoyment of his writing. Best wishes in the contest...
