Thanks Ben, there are more than a few that need some inspiration and a lot more perspiration.

I was a competitive sportsman until I was forty, although I still competed in table tennis till my mid fifties. Sport is a great preparer fo life, although it can also nurture bad things also. A beautifully composed free verse, although it looks a little formalised in stanzas, free verse is usually comprised of short, sharp phrases, and also longer written observations in the same work, but well done, great effort, blessings, Roy

I have enjoyed reading this essay! I think that you're right that we need to be prepared to enter competitions. No grammatical errors. Good luck in the contest!

Yes to be a winner and for the team to take it all the way home it takes so much team work. So much to overcome to be way ahead in the game.

Hello Mystery writer. You've done a very good job in free verse describing all of the components of competition. It takes a lot to win but the best learning comes from losing. Good luck in the contest.

Well written, in my view this author has captured the very essence of what every athlete must do, every minute of every day, both on and off the field, to compete.

This poem is a respectable contest entry. It certainly upholds the spirit of the writing prompt with its content. The picture you chose is a good addition. Thanks for sharing.
