How easy it is to understand your phobia. I don't think many people like snakes. What is ther to like other rant that they help rid us of harmful rodents which I'd just as soon see them do out in the weeds where I can't see them. And even though they may have some purpose,I can't think of any positive reference to them in the Bible. May you see one never more, never more. A nice creepy adapted line at the end.

Very legitimate phobia. I relate to this piece because of my son who was always hunting them. They were everywhere we went and they were always brought home in aquariums. Yuck! But what can you do? He became a Doctor in Herpetology! Your composition certainly sends your message, clearly.

Great job with this piece. I glad that you were able to vent your frustrations with this rancid reptile through your poetry. I really can't stand snakes either there's just something about them that creeps me out. Well done.

This meets the contest requirements nicely as you deliver a Free Verse Poem on a universally recognized phobia within the line count allotted. You have a small typo:
"slivered" - should be slithered.
Good luck in the voting and thank you very much for sharing it.

I think this is a good entry for the Phobias contest.
I have two sisters with snake phobias and I can attest that it is real.
Your story is well told in your verse.
Well done and good luck to you with the contest.

I so agree with you. I dislike snakes also. I cannot imagine anyone putting one around their neck and hold the snake's mouth in their hand. They are very much a phobia in our house.

Well, you're surly not alone in your aversion to snakes. Even though most harm less to humans, they seem unnatural--therefore, terrifying.
To tell you the truth, I don't know if I've ever encountered a truly dangerous snake. I'd just as soon keep it that way.
Good luck.
Peace, Lee

A snake as big as tree trunk would give me a phobia. This is a wonderfully written poem and I love the picture.
Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day and God bless.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts through your poem. I can certainly understand your fear. I share that with you. I almost didn't read this because of the subject matter.
