Great short story. The end was a surprise, I didn't expect Cedric to actually disappear, he wasn't exactly an endearing child but the punishment was harsh. For such a short piece you manage to include great descriptive and emotive content which sets the scene really well. Good luck in the contest.

I think you have the winner here, Craig. Poor Clara, poor Cedric. Cedric appears to be an ungrateful child, not particularly loving, but he doesn't deserve to disappear. This Halloween story is creepy, and it has a message. It should be read to every elementary school child to teach them not to be so whiny, to appreciate what they have.
I hope you win. This is good.

I thought this was nicely imagined, crafted and executed. It was short and crisp, and the details in the descriptions of the spooky Halloween carnival with the fortune teller's stand chanting the boy's wish into reality really makes the scene come alive. I liked how that simple wish translates into an ill thought out disappearance of Halloween altogether, along with the boy, whose birthday is wiped out with it. Only the mask left on the ground. Nice take on this well trodden theme. estory

I'm right with Cedric in wishing there was no such thing as Halloween, but then I didn't have the misfortune to be born on 31 Oct. Maybe I could stand it better if the leap year date was moved from 29 Feb, and we only had to endure these shenanigans once every four years.

Oh my word, Craig so he got his wish, and then he ceased to exist. Not even his mother was aware of the fact because the dad had never existed in the first place.
