Another fun and clever little story. Well done. Interesting author's note, too. I'm going to hate it when the series ends. Got a kick out of "Irritable Owl Syndrome." Marilyn

This is a fun one and your play on words is excellent as well as the puns. I noticed in your notes where you list the animals you have already written about, that the list is very long and growing. I am impressed, I had not realized it was so long. Well done.

My list of animals is long because others encouraged me to keep going. 50 is my final target.
    Thanks for your review comments.

The owl is such a magnificent bird and I occasionally hear one when I'm up in the early morning. I loved the line Irritable Owl Syndrome - hahaha. That was a hoot! Hugs, Lou

LOL!! Okay, so I honestly just laughed out loud with that I-O-S -- wherever did you come up with that one?! ;) Of course, this one is at the top of my list now because owls are my favorite!! ;) Thanx for sharing! ;) Yvette

Another nice done boyfriend story . The puns are owl fun. My father-in-law had the initials of OWL and thereby he collected things related to owls.

    Thanks for reviewing.
Your father-in-law had the perfect reason to collect owls.

A very well-written piece of advice about being weary of Mr wise guy who think he knows it all and make everyone around him look like dumb fools including his partner.

Hopefully he'll be wise enough not to do that.

A "drive by hooting?" I'm not sure exactly what it means but I hope he sticks around - unless you can't stand him being a Know-it-owl.
Some cultures are superstitious about them but I really like owls!

I like owls a lot too. We have native moreporks here - quite small owls.
A drive by hooting is a play on "drive-by shooting" - something that doesn't happen here in NZ because we don't have a gun culture with lots of firearms, but I've heard it happens in USA.
reply by lyenochka on 03-Nov-2019
I got the reference to a "shooting" but wondered if the "hooting" meant something more - like a fling of a relationship. You're right that we have too much of a gun culture here. So sad how many children die because of it!

Haha... now everyone is expecting there to be a double meaning in EVERYTHING!

You did tell me groans were a good sign, and I couldn't help but groan (with a huge smile on my face) at "Irritable Owl Syndrome." Your puns were all smile-worthy, and I love that you continued them in your end notes. Of course, you did forget to mention Batman's butler and assistant, Owlfred.

I have to leave something for you reviewers to add!

Hey, if you're putting your reviewers to work, we demand partial writing credits. We don't work for free!

And rightly so that you air your grievance! Creative types are always getting taken advantage of and expected to work for peanuts. Now would you like your nuts shelled in a paper bag or kept whole?
reply by Michele Harber on 04-Nov-2019
I do not work for peanuts! I work for pistachios - salted, and with the shells partially cracked open. I have my standards!
reply by the author on 04-Nov-2019
Now we're talking! My favourite nut. Such a pretty pale green. Isn't it aggravating when the crack isn't there, and we can't get in and we know that little nut is waiting - such frustration!
reply by Michele Harber on 04-Nov-2019
I console myself with the reminder that, if they didn't get the shell open, they didn't get to add that small but heavenly bit of salt.

Now you've made me peckish and there's no nuts in the house. Waaah! I want nuts!
reply by Michele Harber on 04-Nov-2019
In case you haven't noticed, I'm nuts. I'd prefer you not eat me, but at least you know I'm here.

Oh I already knew that (it takes one to know one).

You have got to be the punniest writer on FanStory. Hands down, you win the prize. How do you do it? How do you come up with phrases like irritable owl syndrome? Thank goodness he kept that to himself.
This is just too cute.
On a similar silly note, I went to a football game two weeks ago. Our team was playing Rice University whose mascot is the owl. They had a truck with a big sign "Rice Owls." I headed for it. I wanted a rice bowl.

Haha... you got misled with the Rice Owls.
Sorry for my delay in responding - I was away. I very much appreciate your review.

Rice bowls are my favorite food. I put all kinds of things on the rice. I could just eat rice bowl. That "food" truck really disappointed

We have similar taste in food it appears. I love Asian food - rice and anything is fine by me.

Irritable...Owl...Syndrome...I am holding the laughter in. Fetching photo. I suspect if he was a know-it-owl, he was also a germaphobe and carried around a little plastic box of pre-moistened t-owlets. This was a perfect pick-up with a humorous flair after Mormon Fast Sunday (although to some of us, it is known as Slow Sunday). The last line about the drive-by hooting was smile-provoking, too!

What a supportive reviewer you are, Crystie! Thanks for this top rating. Interesting that you mention 'germaphobe'. Early in the 20th century about 200 little German owls were introduced into NZ with the intention that they would limit populations of introduced finches and sparrows, and thereby reduce crop damage, so I imagine those owls and their descendants would definitely have a use for t-owlets, to wipe sparrow splatter off their beaks (but not on Mormon fast days).
