Some people seem really hard to help. At least, the guy had had a bowl of warm soup. If you don't mind me saying, the first few paragraphs of this would look better double spaced. The second half all looks good but the beginning needs adjustment.

This short story, Evening in Montreal, has a good note in it for all the do-gooders who haven't figured out that there is usually a reason that a bum is a bum. Bless the children and moms, but the dudes are usually where they're at for good reasons.

Haha, yeah I am figuring that one out. I think it was the leaning that turned me off.
Reminds me of a story when I lived in Tanzania. At the gate of our farm every morning there were about 40 people looking for temporary work. Sometimes I needed help for a day in the garden so I would go out and greet them.
One guy came up to me, swear to God, one hand on his crouch and one finger up his nose. Nipe Kazi ( give me work)
I told him in Swahili that when I am looking for someone to grab his crotch and pick his nose, I will definitely call him. He was obviously an expert.
Everyone thought that was hilarious.

I don't think this really shows your good turn went wrong. Sure the guy was pushing his luck but he was polite about it. You still got the karma from your generosity and the mendicant enjoyed the soup.

It guess it went wrong for me because my friend still laughs about it, in good fun.
I think what turned me off was just the leaning and the dirty dish. And my friend not on board ha ha.
