This is a very lovely, creatively composed, vividly descriptive poem.
Through an appealing blend of figurative (GREAT metaphors) and literal language, you have conveyed a powerful message about the transitory nature of clouds--and of life.

This work has reached the exceptional level

This poem, Below Billowing Clouds, is loaded with meaningful phrases that lift it into the troposphere:
--Cerulean serenity: the cathedral dome of blue
--I can change a dragon to a dove through the taming eyes of love
And this whole stanza...
--For what is truth, and where goes youth?
Clouds have seen it all.
They come, they go - some fast, some slow,
while we, below, stand tall or fall.
Affairs of the heart can drift apart;
marshmallows melt away.
Silver-lined can be undermined -
but there's always another day.

Well done!

This is a fanciful write filled with the summer delights of cloud-watching and relaxing in the sunny days of summer. Clouds can be harmless and don't spill rain upon us all the time, thank goodness, a fine write, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

To spend the day only looking at the clouds would an amazing day. I've read many of these entries and I really like this one. This poem is wonderfully written, and I love the picture. I wish I had a six.

Good luck in the contest!
Happy Holidays and God bless.

You write terrific poetry, Lisa, and this is a perfect example, certainly the one to beat. But, if a spot is left, I'll take the 57-cent bribe to review,
lowering my entry fee, and belatedly try to compete. (Futile though that may be.)

Clouds are super interesting. I had a "lamb" n first grade follow me home from school and I was terrified and crying. When I got home my dad explained pictures in clouds. So, your poem caught my attention. Your rhyme and rhythm are great. Very nice!
Luv!

This is a beautiful poem, beautifully presented. The irregular rhyming scheme reflects the irregularity of passing clouds, yet I am not disappointed because the rhymes always appear. I love the combination of observing nature and introspective contemplation that the poet accomplishes here. It's philosophical; it's cloud therapy!

Hi Lisa. Your lovely poem is well written. Many parts of it I've wanted to point out here in my review, but there are too many to name. This piece is well thought out. Yes, we do feel our problems are small when we contemplate the sky/clouds and everything that is much bigger than we are. Marilyn

You've penned a very worthy entry for the 'calling all nephophiles' competition. The imagery is very effective. The sky is forever changing in its cloud patterns and mood. Best of luck in the contest.

What a good poem, many poetic devices here, mixed rhyming, free verse, internal rhyme, alliteration, and the theme of wandering clouds fits the wandering style, so I think you've created a winner here, even the thoughts are a stream of consciousness. So well done Lisa, a wonderful post. Blessings, Roy
