I like the way you think Jim, which is with all the motivation of the writer/poet, the pondering/inquiring mind that gleans the wonders of nature and includes it in his/her writing. I love the skilful, smooth application to this fine couplet rhyming post, well done, Blessings, Roy

Hi JLR, I really liked this poem and the way you brought to life the feeling of time and ancientness of these smoothed out pebbles. Something one never stops to think about... like the sand on the beach or the rock under your feet... (now you have to think the other way!) It makes us feel so very small and insignificant by comparison. You conveyed that point very well. :)

A very well-written couplet poem about the pebbles on the beach when the tide goes out. They could have many stories about their travels if they could talk.

I love to walk on the beach and look for treasures. Pebbles do cause one to wonder. Where did they come from? What were they a part of? How did they get here? They do have a story to tell.
Very nicely done with rhyming couplets.

Blessings and Happy New Year
Janet

I relish special stones and often collect them on walks; so, I had to read your poem once I saw the artwork you selected. I enjoyed your rhymed couplets and focus on the passage of time. Best wishes in the contest with your work of art- Joan

Beautiful embodiment of the ocean wonders. Sometimes we are resilient as pebbles when harsh times are hitting we my move a little bit but we are staying defending the ground. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

Hello JLR
Nice rhyming throughout your poem about a piece of art. I always like to pick the line that impress me the most ---

The sun breaks low across the eastern sky
as the sparkles dance off the pebbles, teasing my eye.

This is a good ekphrastic poem. It does make you wonder how old pebbles are and make you realize how wonderous the world is.
We are here for just a drop of time.
Good luck and keep writing
Happy New Year.

Only the sea knows all the secrets that the tides of time have hidden. If stones could talk, what stories we would hear of mermaids and sailors, shipwrecks and pirates- just use your imagination while sitting on that boulder!

Your poem about pebbles was a delight to read. I like the fact that
you put the pebbles back where they belong. I like the line about holding
centuries in your clutch.
