What a lovely tribute to your mom, Therese. I like it very much. My mom fits into that category, too. She's gone, but was always my champion. Best of luck in the contest. Marilyn

A mother's wisdom can be seen when she doesn't say a word. She just has that kind of presence about her. Thanks for sharing this inspirational and well written work. Well done!

I love this poem and can so relate, even the author notes haha. My mom is 92, very healthy, sharp and the joy of my life. How lucky are we?

I will tell her about this lovely 94 year old, clever and happy, just like her.

She is funny when she hears of someone older than her, she gets a funny look in her eyes, like she has found a fellow life~lover. If you think about it,,,it's true.

She also raised 5 girls and finally a son with love, fun and guidance. She came to visit me just a few years ago in Tanzania and Zanzibar. She is still such an adventurer.

You made my day with this one. The extra star is for your wonderful mom.

Bravo to you both, judester

Thank you so much! She will be 95 in April. I can?t bear the thought of life without her! We have similar families.

I know! It's wonderful. I write many stories and poems about Irene. I am going to visit one sister in Key Largo for a couple months. I will visit with my mom for a week before. I am putting together her life story and I grill her happily to solve those little mysteries growing up.
I know what you mean, but remember how lucky we are to have our healthy vibrant moms for many more years than others, yeah?
I'm not crying.. you're crying. snif.
    Cheers, j

I hope you have a marvelous time. We?re having a big family party for mom in April when she turns 95. We had one at 90 and now here she is five years later.

Glad you notice your mother's eyes - that they mean something to you. A good poem to show us - we should pay attention. I think of our kids - did I pay enough attention to them - really look at them, praise them, hug them. Your poem made me think.

Thank you so much for such a nice review. I think we all worry about those things regarding our kids. We probably did fine!

That is so lovely. I've lost my parents and miss them terribly, your wonderful 5-7-5 is a really nice, loving tribute to your mother. Treasure every moment you are lucky to have with her. It's hard when they are gone. Good luck in the contest, this is the best entry I've seen. :) Sandra xxx

Such a beautiful dedication poem to your dear mother. I'm sure she will absolutely love your poem. The caring tone really made this poem special. 94 is a great age and she's very lucky to have you!

Thank you so much! She is so wonderful. Raised 7 little girls between the age of 4 and 13 alone when my Dad died 50 yrs ago. I really admire her.

Ah - I loved this touching entry for this contest. You paint a lovely picture with your words and phrases, and save the best for last - recognizing what often we don't see until we ourselves have gained a certain wisdom :) Good luck in the contest.

A beautiful tribute to your mom. I love the title of your poem! I wrote one once called My Mother's Hands. How lucky you are to still have your mom. Great job!
