This is so beautifully written. She looks so young and vulnerable, yet with big plans for the future. You packed a lot of emotion into 15 syllables. Great job, and wonderful image to accompany poem.

Hard to even remember those days, but when I look into the eyes of my students, there they are, shining bright! ;) Thanx for stopping by! ;) Yvette

Nice work, Yvette!
A terrific combination of a powerful message and excellent choice of illustration.
(It's difficult to say a lot about a poem so brief, and this sentence should be more than adequate to fulfill the arbitrary 150 keystroke requirement for reviews.)
Hugs,
Don

I enjoyed the admonition to the main character to stand and take responsibility for the future. I wish it were a universal lesson to all young people!! Great write Yvette, much enjoyed.

What a charming image to accompany your well composed poem. I think one thing does build on another and soon we get a life's direction from accumulating successes. Marilyn

Excellent the truth about the value of living in the present when certain dreams can steal the precious work of a life yet to be fulfilled. It has a charm a wit and a true voice with an appeal to all ages.

And it's not luck either! But hard work is involved in attaining our dreams. Otherwise, we're guilty of feeling entitled - like so many of today's youth. So start working towards those dreams by waking up and setting realistic goals.
