Oh, how your poem perfectly captures the pain of the picture. I love your verb choices - engulf, stole, fade. The contrast between death and dark to living, life, happiness. The absence of the one brings the other.

It's full of grief, tangible and heartbreaking.
You have used hear words and the spareness and brevity works very well. What more can be sad when grief lies so deep?
