Even though I haven't read previous chapters, I still managed to understand the storyline quite well. The characters are very well expressed and well written, as is the rest of the chapter.

The urgency of the situation is apparent in both the words and the structure of the story. Each line spoken, every action portrayed. It started off strong and never wavered. Well written.

This chapter had a lot of action. You described the scenes well. I'm still not sure of Kayla's sincerity or JDurand (from earlier chapters). I can see a lot of possibilities of both working both sides. I'll be interested to find out in later chapters just whose side each really is on. Respectfully, Jan

Thanks, Jan. There's a lot of ambiguity in the plot that needs to be resolved one way or another. All the best, Tony

-You definitely amped up the
action in this chapter, Tony.
-I could see this as a great scene in a movie!
-Charles was in rare form as he went in to get Helen.
-I think he deserves his status as hero so far.
-Kayla is no slouch as the heroine
with those Muay Thai moves.
-Poor Helen has to be in a deep state of
shock, and who knows what else.
-It remains to be seen what happens next,
but hopefully, Helen and Kayla will
be safe, and Charles will make his
delivery to the proper authorities.
-I agree with him in that decision.
-Well done!

Thanks, Pam. Now the action is over, there's just the mopping up to come!

You are welcome, Tony. Good luck with the "mopping up!"

A great chapter Tony full of action and excitement. I like the way Kyla acted, broken ribs and all that Muay Thai Jumping Push Kick or Kradot Thip. Great stuff!
Going on to read the next chapter.
Best wishes
Sylvia

Hello Tony,
Perfect beginning: "Cursing my stupidity..."
An excellent chapter as the encounter with Abdul takes place and Kayla
comes to the rescue of poor Charles, who needs all the help he can gets.
Beware of the three-cornered jack and a women inflamed.
It seems both Kayla and Helen have a thing for genitals, Helen with the prison chief, now Kayla with Abdul.
At this point, it doesn't seem like justice will be served, not Mozama's, nor the Khyber knife, nor the Marhkor's ghost.
Old Charles doesn't seem to understand how things work in this area of the world. The border police are likely at the beck and call of the most dollars, pounds, or rupees handed to them. "Cursing my stupidity..."
Who will come to the rescue this time. Asim, Ash, Jeanne, Mozama, Minaxi, Bisto, Chaprisi or ....
Well done
Robert

He's certainly accumulated an impressive list of saviours! Maybe it's time he gave up this secret agent nonsense and went back to collecting stamps!
Many thanks for the review and jackpot of stars.

Wow, Tony, that was indeed a chapter full of action and quite some fights, But at least they'd now freed Helen. So now I wonder, where does it all go from there. How do we get back to the French letter? I can't wait to see. And poor Helen. Will she ever be okay again? All best. Ulla:)))

Thanks, Ulla. It may take Helen a little time to recover. I don't suppose she ever will entirely. At least she's free.

A fast-moving story that I truly liked reading. It held my attention all the way through. The characters are strong and the dialogue is appropriate. You did a great job. Shirley

Hmmm, I think the rescue/capture worked out with surprising smoothness. But you probably have something up your sleeve for the next chapter so I'm suspending my disbelief.

I had to look up three cornered jack. I see it's an Australian term for a bat like seedpod. Great description of Kayla's martial arts move.

Right now she is the wounded markhor, but I think Helen will be fine, recalling the way Charles recovered from his own ordeal. Emotional and physical care will work wonders.

Blessings Julia

Thanks, Julia. I'm glad this chapter worked OK for you. It's been one I've put off writing for a while! The sixth star is great affirmation.
