Thank you for sharing the inspiration for your spiritual poem and the lovely, matching picture. I admired your mood-setting title and freestyle form, plus your "pitched tent" metaphor. Best wishes in the Faith Poetry Contest- Joan

What can I say! Simply elegant, and exquisitely written! (sigh...) Some people tell me they don't like when I use script font, but I think it is such a lovely font to show a delicate touch to the piece. Your entire presentation is spot on beautiful! Love Mercy Me! xoxo

What a beautiful faith entry Miss Sally.
I love the way you've presented this,
and the final message...being reborn.
Makes all that's going on in the world
a little less scary.
Blessings...

Very nice, Sally. Thank you for sharing your faith.
My favorite verse,
"I know what they said
because I was there.
I heard them.
I watched them.
I could barely look.

Such physical suffering
was too much to take in.
I looked, anyway.

How did you do it?
You didn't say a word
in your own defense."
You know, Sally, many times when I'm reading the Bible, I put myself into the mix... perhaps as an unknown observer, but often as a real character in the story. When I do this, I see so much more. I feel things, unexpected things that I never would have thought from just reading the words. I think you have done this, too.
Once, I became Jonah. I didn't realize how afraid Jonah was of traveling to Nineveh as God had directed. One of his greatest fears was that he (a well-known prophet) would succeed. And if he succeeded, there would be no destruction as he warned. The people wouldn't have his respect as a prophet anymore.
He was even willing to be tossed overboard into a raging sea! Yet, God needed Jonah. He wasn't about to abort his plan for the salvation of the Assyrians. He sent a whale to swallow Jonah and deliver him to shore, vomited up on a dry beach. But there in the whale's belly, he repented. To be saved, we must repent. The same can be said of the people of Nineveh.
Bottom line, the story became very real to me. I even wrote a song about it, and my brother illustrated it. I called it, "Jonah On The Beach". I wrote it in a humorous way, and it always got some laughs when I used it in a concert.
"Here I sit on the beach.
The Lord came by to teach.
I'm gonna go to Nineveh after all.
I do remember when...
Thought I was at the end,
But instead became dinner to a wall... (er, a whale).

I guess that I
Cried and cried and cried,
Slippin' to that dark cold lonely place.
I remember the smell.
"Lord, ain't this just swell?"
And swimmin' by, I think I saw a base (er, a bass).

(chorus): Lord, even in that whale You saw me,
An immature and reluctant servan.........t.
Lord, don't know why You want to use me,
But I am happy that can.

I never prayed so hard,
Threw away my guard,
Offered up my heart and soul to Him.
Three days and nights,
I know I look a fright,
But better in the whale cuz I could not of swim (er, swam... er, swum!)

(Chorus): Lord, even in that whale You saw me,
An immature and reluctant servan.........t.
Lord, don't know why You want to use me,
But I am happy that can.
*****************************************************
Anyway, you get the idea, Sally. I like the way you put it, that you were right there...
"I know what they said
because I was there.
I heard them.
I watched them.
I could barely look."

The only thing I'd change in your poem would these lines...
"The end of your life
was the beginning of mine."
I'd suggest,
(The end of your earthly life
was the beginning of my spiritual life."

Thanks for sharing this timely poem, Sally.

Hugs,
Kimbob

Aw, dear Kimbob, how kind and generous of are. Thank you so much for such a wonderful and meaty review. I love to go deep with you about the things of God. This has been stirring in my heart for sometime. I wrote this is just a few minutes without much revision and decided to post it early. I'm glad I did. Jesus is always a wonderful person to focus on. His love and sacrifice move me to tears and worship daily.

I love your song. I hope you'll revive this for us all here on FanStory. It's so beautiful and worshipful. :))

Sending you my best today as always,
    Sally xo

Amen to the truth
I love the artwork you choose to go with your poem, it is a perfect match.
Like Jesus he knew his time has come, he showed people its beauty and love he passed on to others his work is done.
Unlike Jesus His work is still going on.
Thank you for sharing, have a safe and bless week end.

That is good to know about since it inspired such a beautiful poem, I will definitely look for it. Your deep concentration of our Lord's death is prevalent here and the washing away of our sins also predominates. A very gentle inspirational read. Thank you for sharing.

If you have faith you will be reborn your sins will be forgotten. You will sit at the table with our Lord Jesus Christ and He will smile as the Voice of God welcomes you into his Kingdom. This is a good entry for the Faith Poetry Contest. Thank you Sally for writing from your heart.

Beautiful free verse for the Easter Season, Lady Sal -- very good translation of the impact it had on you into words... Powerful testimony! ;) Our Bible Study group read the book and there were times I couldn't actually make it through the reading... chills. Thank you for sharing such a large piece of your heart... :) Yvette
