Thank you for sharing. It is interesting how the metaphor of a tree for one's genealogy is so prevalent that the two are often inseparable. It is hard to think of another instance where a concept is described by a metaphor so perfectly. Your poem does have the correct syllable count with the help of your removed syllable in the first line. Good luck with your contest entry!

Ah, them might be fighting words to some, referring to trees in the garden of Eden as mere metaphors. You'll find some interesting people here on FanStory to say the least... ;)

Ah, but I didn't say 'mere' - I said great. Jesus himself was terrific at metaphor and parable. The fighters can go climb a tree, haha.
