Rod,
Looking through your posts, it is hard to find something that isn't always regarded as perfect.
In this case, a beautiful picture with nice sentiments.

Beautiful poem, Rod, using just 15 syllables. The photo you chose illuminates the poem. I'm not sure why your novels are unpublished, but I hope you pursue your writing dreams. I'm just a novice writer, but I want to keep trying until I realize my writing dreams. I am 62, but I keep thinking of Grandma Moses...lol. and how she started painting in her 80's. Good like with your dreams.

Many thanks for your kind praise of this short poem, Cindy. I used to teach Creative Writing to adults and many in my classes were in their 60s just learning how to write poetry. I had fun SHOWING them how to write different kinds of poems. I usually began with the HAIKU so they would think metaphorically and conjure original images. Then I taught them how to write metered poetry with rhyme. I urged them--and you--to READ a lot of poetry. There are sites on the Internet that have the POEM OF THE DAY. Good luck. Rod

Thank you, Rod. P.S. I also love the lightheartedness of the limerick. I don?t see much of its genre on fanstory. Have a nice weekend.

Life and death, endings and beginnings - it is still a beautiful world, especially in sunsets and sunrises. Your poem alludes to this and is a worthy winner of the contest. Congratulations!

Many thanks for your kind praise, Lisa. Indeed, even though we are in lock-down where I live, I can still enjoy sunsets. Rod

We're in lockdown here in NZ also. My favourite spot at home is at the table in the bay window where I can observe the neighbourhood and the hill opposite, over which the sun sets.
Stay safe, be well.

I will and you take care, too. Rod

There is nothing like a sunset to quell our fears and give us a sense of peace and tranquillity, you brought both those feelings in your words here, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Yes, indeed sunsets bring peace into this troubled world. Though I am locked in like so many others, I am able to look out my windows and enjoy the end of each day. Thank you for sharing. Rod

This is a lovely poem with the perfect picture to put your words into a visual. When you look at a sunset, you are looking at God's handiwork.

Ahhhh. I so relate to the beauty of the simple entry for the 15 syllable writing prompt. It speaks thoughts I feel, but couldn't have expressed in so few words. Well done. Good luck in the contest.
