This was a perfect marriage of art and poetry, and I admire both your rhyme and your meter! It's like you went for the iambic pentameter and the sonnet skeleton, shook both out a bit and put them in jeans and a t-shirt. Thanks for a fabulous coffee break today. Good luck to you!

Lol. Yep, shook them both out just a little. Thank you for the excellent review, Laurie. I really appreciate the generous stars and good luck wishes. I'm glad you liked this silly piece. I hope you have a great rest of your weekend.

Brilliant idea. What would he be like ? Also brilliant poem with meter and rhymes and excellent choice of words. My only (very minor) negative was that the poem did not seem to have a conclusion: it just remained the same question as at the start.

Thank you for the great review, Tim. I agree, I didn't quite come to a conclusion except for the closing couplet. The piece was already, in my eyes, too long as it is so I just ended it like this. Lol. I really appreciate the generous stars, friend. I'm glad you liked the piece. Have a great rest of your weekend.

Shall I Compare Thee
Hello my friend.
A fine entry for the Bard writing prompt contest. I love the presentation and the picture is inspiring...I see how worked so well. I use the efrastic method all the time. It works well for me because I'm a very visual person. Well done my friend.

It's difficult to choose a favorite line from this excellent piece. I'm leaning towards his hand being the only love he's got. Ha! This entire entry is beautifully presented and written with exquisite meter and rhyme. I love that this incredible picture inspired it all. Killer post and funny as hell. Contest winner. ;-) Very well done. Lynda

Hey, Lynda, hello. Thank you so very much for the outstanding review and the enormous sixer. You're the first one to mention that line in particular. Lol. I was wondering how many people were going to shoot the piece down, like coronavirus, simply because of that line. Hahaha. I dearly appreciate the precious stars. Hopefully it will actually do well in the booth. Fingers crossed. I'm glad you liked my silly little offering, Lynda. Thank you again.

I thoroughly enjoyed how you depicted "Shakes" in this tribute. I sincerely think he would be the former character you described in each stanza, not the latter. He'd be "far-out" in some way. Some wonderful imagery throughout helps the reader paint a clear picture of him today. Rod

I'm so glad you were inspired by this unique piece of art! It allowed you to fully imagine the various personae that the old Bard could have adopted today. Kudos to you!

Oh, yes! You did it again. A masterful sonnet, using Mr. Shakespeare to write a masterpiece in his style. This poem is great, modern, lots of recognizable examples of modern life. Still recognizing the undoubtedly great art of our ancestor and master-sonnet-writer William Shakespeare.
This piece ought to win the contest. Good luck!

I love sonnets to read, but am very bad in writing them. I try them once in a while, to exercize my poetry-muscles.

This is a clever and funny write full of questions about the Bard and how he would be perceived in today's society and I reckon you also have the answers here too! This is a well put together poem, full of excellent rhyming, mixed meter and sheer joy to read, it most definitely is a winner for me, love Dolly x

A great modern-day twist on a well known sonnet. The rhyme scheme is particularly impressive - it feels natural and gives your work flow. Best of luck in the contest and thank you for sharing the wonderful write!
