Don seems to be into everything, as our grandsons are, and our granddaughter is quite different, feminists would have us believe that we condition them accordingly, but how can one condition a year old boy? God definitely wired boys and girls differently. Well done Beth, I'm really enjoying this biography, well done, blessings, Roy
Typo : So that was (a) big relief.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. You are so right. Most boys and girls are wired differently. I still have questions in my mind because once in a while the child does seem to be wired more like the opposite sex. You know from the cradle that he acts more feminine. Thankfully all mine were wired the way they should be.

This is another interesting, nostalgic and entertaining chapter in this true story about your early married life and raising your family. The family picture is beautiful, even with the damage.

Here are some minor edits:

That's a very funny story about Don painting the crib area with Christie's poop. It makes me smile, because my Mom has a similar story about my brother, who painted the wall by his crib with his own poop, too. It seems that baby boys are more fond of this practice than girls are, and I find it amazing that little children don't have the same natural distaste for it, that we do! Mothers have to put up with so much!

I enjoyed your story very much, and I'm sure your family will love it.

Dear Beth, I am glad that you again included current events with the growing up of your twins and Carol. The whole epic of Kennedy's assassination will forever be a part of the world they live in now.
The other thing that impressed me with this particular post was the view of you in the picture you posted next to your profile picture. ( guess you will not see it but the rest of us can.) there you sit with the same mass of beautiful black hair !

Thank you so much for the review and comments. That picture has seen better days. I lost a lot of my pictures in a fire. I think that one might have escaped with water damage.

The same has happened to some of mine! Fire, Water and Mice. Guess we are lucky to have lived so long.

I had to laugh when you wrote about Don painting the crib brown. I had the same thing happen with one of my children and that one, a year later, painted everything in their bedroom with a red Crayola. Walls, furniture, everything.
Yes, I was hanging out clothes when a young boy on a bicycle rode down the street yelling the president has been assassinated. We were like you, glued to our TV's for days. Good job, Beth. Nancy:)

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I guess that brown paint is pretty gross. I was hoping I wouldn't be the only mother that dealt with that. I've had the crayon thing also. It fact on of my earliest memories is the spanking I got from using my art talent on my moms walls.

I raised four boys and to be honest, I think Don acted like a normal boy. LOL A girl friend had four girls. She was always surprised at what my boys did. She had two sons of her and then understood what I was going through.

I was in 3rd grade when Kennedy was shot. I remember the principal coming in to share the news with us.

Christi's favorite was green beans while Don mostly just liked the fruit flavors and a desert flavor called apple pie. (dessert)

Thank you for the review and comments. Four boys, that must have been a circus. I hope they weren't too close together. Thanks for catching the misspelling.

My first four were within seven years. I was either pregnant or nursing the entire time. LOL The third one, Michael, was born with a heart defect and died during open heart surgery. he was born in 1982. My last one was born in 1993. So I actually had 5 pregnancies. All boys.

Beth,

I truly enjoyed your family story. You told of the memorable events well.

I loved your story. I like how you're telling this to your husband, so your children will remember him.

You have a beautiful family. Great picture!

Beth, great idea to share your memories with your adult children. I believe it's critical to pass on anything that helps build a feeling of belonging and continuity within the family that carries over to the next generation. Thanks for sharing your memories and stay safe! Bill

A busy family life you are portraiting here, Beth! I do so much like your descriptions!
Quite a lot of little slips in this piece:
1. They became harder to control
2....remains of his life?
3...In June, George Wallace
4. .. besides his wife, Jackie
5. ..where we were, or what we were doing
6. ..funeral activities??

The antics of those twins! Funny.

This is a beautiful depiction and memory of your young children! It reads perfectly as a memoir. I look forward to reading more of your writing soon. Well done!
