What a wonderful way to describe the current state of communication between friends and even just plain acquaintances... oh, I do so miss the gatherings, though! ;) Thanx for sharing! :) Yvette

Very nice and so true right now - we're spending more time on email - keeping touch with friends - and I'm trying to call or write some folks I seldom am in touch with. Good poem

A very well-written 5-7-5 suite about living alone and the only two way communication us over the phone, and the radio that bring the outside world's craziness closer home.

Hi Lisa. In our isolation to hear the human voice is important. I agree with your poem and your note that a familiar voice, even if it's on TV, the news, or best is the voice of a friend on the phone--all are wonderful to stave off loneliness. Great job. Marilyn

Interesting commentary especially applicable today. Although touch and smell are still not viable, thru ZOOM and other such platforms, sight is. Hang in there - Jerry

This 5-7-5 suite, Lines of Communication, has the proper formatting five times and calls for the people who are now actually confined to reach out now and forever after this necessary hiding away is over.

I very much the words you write today. Someone they brought a wide smile. Your tone is light but serious; teasing but meaningful, just what someone needs at these times. Companionship is survival, on the phone, here at FS, in our words.

I agree! I am alone too and I do like it, however, it is becoming a challenge especially when we cannot go out. If the weather was nice, it wouldn't be quite so discouraging! Very good writing these shorts!

I believe I mirror your situation. Alone. One advantage is we can do whatever we want. I like your poems here and your author's notes where you speak of a friend's voice that does, indeed, brighten my day.

Like many at this time of crisis I have discovered Zoom and will be using it as the medium for conducting my poetry classes. Trials are most promising. I remember a carton character Dan Dare used to be able to see those he spoke to on the 'telephone'. He was created for thre UK comic The Eagle back in the 1950s and his space adventures took place in 1999 so we haven't managed to move quite as fast as the SF writers' imagination.

You want to try zoom. Seeing may not be hugging but it is believaing, or so they say.
