All we have is today - tomorrow has enough troubles of its own (the Bible tells us) so trust God for today. This is a message I must keep telling myself also. good poem

This 5-7-5 suite, Willpower Games, has the right set up and seems to state that we choose when and where we show control or abandon.

    Yep, that's how I react to self-control.

How ironic that I'm reading your poem while chomping on M&Ms or, as I like to call them, Valium. The M&Ms were calling my name all week and I avoided them, but today was somewhat stressful, so I gave in. So, in my case, restraint was for yesterday, and I'll still live for today. Thanks for validating my losing my willpower. By the way, I love the irony of the lines, "... willpower is my new game. I'm a good loser."

LOL!! Aaaaah, such a wonderful offering of what we've all begun to feel like by the end of each of these insane days!! ;) This is a wonderful offering, LisaMay.... 'restraint is for tomorrow'!! ;) :) Yvette

A bit like Lewis Carroll's Red Queen, 'Jam yesterday, and jam tomorrow, but never jam today. Apparently alcohol sales are up. A bit baffling that with all the pubs and restaurants closed. Looks like panic buying in the alcohol aisle. So far i have resisted the temptation to join in but I am going shopping tomorrow.

A very well-written 5-7-5 suite of letting go of all self restrictions in a time we are forced in solitude. We can live for the day because we don't know if tomorrow will be there to enjoy.

Well, I keep seeing dark chocolate as a good nutrient so keep enjoying! I can't handle wine as I find it drying in the mouth. There's a touch of sadness in the poem but I like the positive, "live for today."

I feel the same way sometimes. I drink harder liquor than wine. So I try my best not to drink alone. I understood your story. It probably is relatable to many. Nice work. Be careful, stay safe and strong. Peace be upon you :)

This is a very good job on this post, Lisa. We all do like our comfort foods and drinks in times of stress. My food of choice is pizza and ice cream. Marilyn

I can identify with this poem. I was just thinking about how lazy I've become today. And then I tell myself, that my being lazy is doing my part to stop the spread. Thanks for a timely poem. I get it. Love the subject and word choices.

I agree with you - we're not being lazy, we are being helpful, good citizens, saving our energy for when we are going to have to work twice as hard to help our country get back on its feet.
