Hello,
I pray you are doing well. What interesting imagery of the cracks (mental illness) in the son's head. Also, your poem's words rhythmic flow is nicely done. Good job!!! Your message about your son's noises in his head is very sad but SO real. This is a parent's nightmare, especially when your son does not hear you talking to him. Your poem describes the hopes you want for your son to have a normal life, which is a deep parental love, hope, desire for the best in your son's future. It's understandable of your anger against God, but please remember, God makes no mistakes. Your son through it all is a wonderful gift to you, a son who is simply different. It's loud and clear that it's been a difficult journey, yet I feel your deep parental love for him. I found no errors. Well done message and a great title. Thanks for sharing this message of hope & courage.

Such a true representation of a family member struggling and it's effect on the other family members. Painful, hopeful, watchful. The rhythm and the words are perfect. Great job!

Wow! This poem really delves into how it feels to be the mother of someone experiencing mental illness. The raw way you wrote about your son and your relationship brought tears to my eyes. He is lucky to have you and you him. Definitely deserving of my six star rating. Exceptional job at conveying your emotion.

Whatever is his mental and physical state of health, his family would protect him; I enjoyed clear taletelling, free flow of thoughts; well said, well done.

I love the way you wrote your poem about your son with such love streaming from every word. I cannot imagine how heartbreaking it would be to be in that situation. I cannot advise, of course, I'm not a doctor. The only thing that comes to mind is "There is a reason for everything." Perhaps if you contemplate what effect this has had there might be a thread of gold there for you.

It's sad though the disease is eating him up and I feel sorry. It must be hard but keep believing. The poem is full of life. It is great

What a very sad poem. So filled with heartache from a mum who loves her child and wants him to enjoy what others take for granted. A very special poem that could possibly help someone who is dealing with this illness.

This is a touching, moving and accurate depiction of schizophrenia and how it impacts someone you love, and by implication, you and your family.
I have a brother-in-law with the disorder, and he lives in a group home. All his siblings have moved on in life, but he could not. We all love him, and I must say that schizophrenics don't deserve the reputation they sometimes have. Yes, he hears voices, and sometimes they tell him to do bad things, but he has a conscience and knows not to do what they say. Yet it's painful for him, and difficult. He is a kind and loving person. Like your son, he's missing out on many things in life that others enjoy. His parents are recently deceased, but his mother, in particular, when she was able to, did everything she could to give him his best life. And that's what it's about.
I also have a friend from high school who was diagnosed with schizophrenia, although they later changed the diagnosis to bipolar disorder. We had been in a school for gifted students, but after college, the disease manifested itself early in her marriage, and her husband left her. Hospitalization and drugs took a lot out of her.
I hope that the people doing research will learn more and better ways to help these people living among us (and sometimes isolated from us) who would love to live fuller, happier lives.
I can imagine how you're angry at God sometimes. May He continue to give you, your son and your family special grace.
Thank you for sharing about your son's illness, and your love and concern for him, in your beautiful poem.
